It's perfectly safe provided it is done properly.
It's got an uprated fuel pump and pressure regulator, 550 injectors, and it's been mapped by an expert. I've also got an in car EGT Gauge, knocklink and lambdalink.
Running 1.5 bar without all or at least some of those safeguards could well be said to be risky, but I've done my research and used the right people and the right kit so it's fine.
I'm also prepared to take some risk though. If you don't accept some risk, you shouldn't be tuning.
