Sigh, Steve G Man, take a look around you m8, there are 1000's of empty houses that no one wants, 'usually' cos they are complete dumps and this is 'usually' where asylum seekers are housed.

Sighthill in Glasgow is one example, even the druggies dont want em. Now ask someone who works with homeless people, like I do, why people are homeless and why they are on the streets. Its got nothing to do with lack of houses m8 and everything to do with individual circumstances and personal choice.

Next you will be saying pensioners canny heat thier houses because all the money is going to johnny f, blah, blah.

i take on board what you said there and as you work with them you know best i myself have never but were spending a lot of money on the old assylum situation and i just get the feeling that were being taken for mugs i know there are some genuine cases out there and yes we should help them but im sure theres lots that are here to milk it for all there worth.

I would have thought that the cause of the majority of depravation is not as stated through circumstance and personnel choice but primarily through lack of education.

I will accept that given there are many more English and Welsh than Scots and northern Irish there are likely to be a larger number in total of members of the C of E, although and even that may be in doubt now.

But, in every other respect, be it geographically or culturally, the C of E is not the predominant religion in Scotland and NI. The C of E has little or no bearing in Scotland or Northern Ireland. It is therefore only likely to be predominant in about 50% of the UK by location.

I am not above the laws of the UK, be that Scots Law or English Law. But they are not laws of the church. the church has no "laws" although it may well have rules for its members.

Being quite blunt about it. The Church of England and the Church of Scotland these days are more like clubs, to be honest.

For them to have any greater power would would be religeous biggotry and a violation of civil liberty, which, as I understand, would be illegal under UK laws, be that in the law of Scotland and or England.

Actually, I think that the choice I have to practice any particular religion is given to me by the grace of the European Court of Human Rights, but I stand to be corrected on this one. Not that its of any relevance, but although I was christened by a Church of Scotland minister, I have not actively practiced any religion for many years (although Bhuddism is looking quite appealing these days )
