Cat and Mouse Firemen - the end is nigh!!

Shropshire-Guy and boomer, I doubt pslewis ever will reply, he's the classic forum troll, makes a few inflamatory or bigotted statements (usually gets the thread locked etc.) then goes away without answering much of anything.

When will you learn that to have a job that saves somebody's life DOES NOT mean you get paid more than the market dictates!!
I really do give up, how simple do I have to make it so you will understand??
The Army, Navy and Air Force staff may lay down their life soon so that we may have a chance of living in a world free of the threat of Mass destruction from Madmen/Women!!!
So, get a grip on life and STOP thinking Firemen are worth anymore than those who will die on your behalf!!
I give up!! Rescue cats from trees = £31k??? BOLLOX does it!

pslewis,
i will ask the question yet again...
You lose all credibility when you simply rant on about the same thing, time and time (and new topic after topic) again
Oh, and if you want to see evidence of New Labia being "stung", take a trip to http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...559912,00.html to read about the GMB union pulling out of a £40 million rescue deal for the Labour Party in protest at John Prescott’s decision to impose a pay settlement on striking firefighters!
Also, click http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...559913,00.html and find out why Mick Rix, general secretary of the train drivers’ union Aslef is calling for B.Liar to resign!
I look forward to your comprehensive reply

--And this happens on a daily basis, year in year out? No.—
Yes!
Soldiers on active (or non active) duty are at risk of having to lay down their life daily……
Places like Kosovo and Northern Ireland are just two (of many) examples
A fireman has the option of refusing to enter a burning building if he (or she!) doesn’t like it
Anyone in the armed forces does not – they have to put themselves in danger or go to prison
You can’t compare the fire service with any of the armed services

Agreeed but they don't HAVE to put to sea in bad wx etc
the fate of a fishing boats crew is in their own hands - usually only poor planning or carelessness will kill them
and the really dangerous deep sea fishing is well paid

Yeah, its all they have known for generations usually and they need to feed their families and stay off the dole, sheesh.
Suppose they could retrains as a Fireman or squaddie tho.
Its so easy to generalise m8

If you’re in a job where a few missed days or weeks over a year will result in you being on the dole, homeless etc....
You should have retrained six years ago! (more poor planning)
Anyway isn’t dole money intended to help in these sort of situations? – there is no reason for anyone to starve in the UK

As more fish gets caught
fish gets cheaper
as fish gets cheaper more gets consumed
as more gets consumed more gets caught
and on and on untill there's none left
as a goup
at the end of the day it's dog eat dog (or fish), their inability to self regulate has become their downfall - for whatever reason
individually
To ignore the obvious (declining stocks etc) and not act (retrain) is extremely foolish - especally these days
When will they (we all!) learn?

I would love to learn the facts behind your statement at the start of this thread saying "These Firemen have cost us £70million "
If you can't be bothered to come up with such information, and if you continue to conveniently ignore any comments that disprove your ranting, then you are clearly not worth entering into a debate with.
mb
Boomer, in your case you are NOT able to learn

LOL, your a bit lame on that 'fact' m8, the fishermen regulate themselves do they? First I heard it, heheh. Praps you might look into 'who' exactly over fished 'our' waters and 'why' before you continue to talk nonsense regarding fishermen. That’s fishermen btw not politicians in case you can’t differentiate.

Would you like me to hold your hand next time you need something answering?? I dont know!! No wonder the UK is in a state!! I am the only sane one here!!!!

And what the fireman ( and the rest of us peasants for that matter )have got over the last, say 10 years???

Erm, let me see? - last years deal 3.5% for 14 months - year before 5.6% - year before about 6%. Cant see the relevance myself?
Would have LOVED 11% over 24 months like the Firemen have been offered! THATS why I am SO mad - they do NOT deserve £31,000 END OF STORY. No recruitment problems at all!! So why pay more? NO NEED TO.
Oh, yes, the above does not include any Promotion payments - but, of course, these are rewards for a scarce skill and a fantastic ability so dont count!
