pslewis: No many of us will return to voting for 1.
Some of us were silly enough to try 2 and look what's happened.
a)A chancellor that pretended he was in control and has now had to admit he lost the plot.
b)Lot's of extra taxes but no noticeable improvement:-
Public Transport still junk.
Hospitals still in a mess - don't kid yourself that the waiting lists being down has improved things, all they did was change the criteria for the waiting lists - my sister is a nurse and she has to face the reality of people waiting months and emergency cases being put on trolleys in waiting rooms for 72hours!!
Schools - government interference messing up the A levels
Universities - what makes you think poor people will be able to go to universtity with the option of a 21k loan to be repaid?
c) Asylum out of control
I could go on.
There isn't going to be an election tomorrow, but there will be eventually, all the conservatives have to do is find a decent leader and they will steal the next election back.
Don't think this can't happen. If they can get elected with someone like John Major in control, there is hope for many.
I work with many people who have been labour voters for years, and even they are saying they hate the New Labour arrogance and even preferred the conservatives.
Only time will tell of course, but remember that Labour won the last 2 elections based on a lot of voters swinging in their direction, people like those on Scoobynet, who thought they'd give them a try. People like me. Let me assure you I will never vote labour again as long as I live, and there are hundreds of thousands out there who now feel the same.

I wouldn't mind paying tax, but what really get's on my nipple ends is the amount of money thrown away be local government.
Where I'm from, it's always been a local labour council and they've thrown money away on stupid bureaucracy. A few years back, it came out that 5 million went AWOL and that council tradesman (plumbers, carpenters, etc.) had been earning £60K a year and had been claiming riduculous things like 26hr days through the overtime systems. No-one got the jail and we're still repaying the debts through council tax
Labour should sort out local govermnet first if they want to save money instead of getting us lot to pay for their cr@p service.
Just who are they accountable too FFS? Give me a couple of years and I'm out of this fecking country.

Plenty of posts on here would indicate otherwise, HOWEVER, this is a predominently Tory BBS ........... the salaries are well above the £35,000 Average.
Anyway, it looks like this Labour government has decided to re-introduce super tax through the back door.
I am really beginning to think that even the ineffectual IDS could do a better job than Blair and his cronies. If Blair honours the supposed pact he made with Brown about stepping down halfway through a second term, God help the UK.
As I'm moving to Canada in August, this kind of stuff shouldn't get to me, but I hate to see this country go to the dogs under this [mis]administration.
I would say a bunch of chimps could do better, but that would be denigrating chimps.

I wouldn't mind paying tax, but what really get's on my nipple ends is the amount of money thrown away be local government.
The council has overspent by £15 million on the 'Cultural Quarter'
"The auditor's report will be the culmination of a process begun in 1999 when the then chief executive Brian Smith announced an investigation into how the Cultural Quarter project had become £7 million overspent. This was put on ice while the council sued the project's architects for fear of prejudicing the council's case. When the council lost the case, having lost a further £8 million, Mr Stockley announced a fresh investigation."
They've blown a further £1.5 million on a FUBAR hi-tech business venture called Worldgate. That figure could double with interest and it's us mugs paying council tax that are coughing for it for 20 years+
Council tax will be up by 9 to 13%, despite budget cuts of £4.2 million! It's not going up to provide better services, it's to try to pay for all the incompetent screw-ups they've made.

Kevin - the fault wasn't with the deletion of MIRAS (on an individual basis) ....... it was the fact that 'Notice' was given!! And what happened afterwards?? COLLAPSE!!
So, all we learned was Tax it but make it IMMEDIATE!! Simple, Housing Market cooled, houses bought for homes NOT profit, Shabby houses dont sell, landlords sell at a loss, sorted
