DAWES DEVICE NEXT ?????

I look forward to it Alan!
Also need to add, although some people obviously have their own opinion to the look and quality of the Dawes AFR, it is the most accurate narrow band AFR Meter available, so there! lol

Dawes AFM is perfect for the job, I've had two for safety sake and wouldn't run higher boost, etc without one.
Well I guess they are expensive, if you look at the cost of component, etc but in fairness I couldn't be assed to build one. So the dawes example was great for my requirements
Oh and as Jamie has said they are highly accurate. I test two along side delta dash and they both tracked each other perfectly. They are calibrate specifically for Impreza Turbos.
Lol, so there
Cheers Phill C

Alan, as I said.. if you want to come over and try a remap free of charge then give me a ring in a week.. Then if you like you can get your hand in your tight northern pocket..
you've got my number..

David,
But what are you going to remap ? Alan has an earlier ECU (pre MY99) so am interested in what you can do ? Fitting a chip and raising the boost is the same as fitting a Dawes surely ??
Cheers Phill C

Alan,
Ok that's great, was just concerned that you were going to a buy a remap that wouldn't work on your current ECU. PPP ecu should give you better torque figures

no..
He has a ppp ecu at the moment... I said we can provide a better map to improve spool up and increase the overall boost...
I did suggest getting a different ecu first, but I should be able to just remove the ppp chip and stick it in a box for him, then should he sell he can put it back to ppp.. (assuming they dont solder the chip in) if they do then new s/hand ecu time.
can only do 92 - 96..

so nowt can be done along these lines with a 99 scooby with ppp dawes etc ?????? if i go to ecutuek they will just say .....ge rid of the ppp ecu and get one of ours !!!! same old advice, but to be honest i paid allot of money for the ppp and parting with it for a huge loss doesnt come easy to me..any other avenues?

IMHO you are not going to get anything significant extra over a decatted Dawes PPP MY99/00 until you change the turbo, then you really do need to do the ECU, or would indeed be safer going back to a standard one - the PPP runs too much timing for a big turbo used properly.

depend what turbo u put in. bigger turbo = more lag in most cases. smaller turbo = quicker spool up but they can run outta puff sooner. you are lookin for summat that will give you good torque low down in the rev range say from 2500 onwards. dawes should give you a full 1.0 - 1.1 bar of boost from about 3000-3500 revs. a decatted downpipe should also give you a bit more power.

np m8. dawes will just be the start of it then u will get bitten by the modding bug. your next mod will produce a bit more power and after a few days you are used to the car again and you are trying to find out other way of increasing the power yet again. a healthy bank balance help alot here.

alan,
let me know if the remap makes a big difference to the car as i might be tempted to take my car across the shuck to have it done. would also be interested to see any dyno results you may get next week as well. if you don't mind could you mail me offline.
cheers
