This computer is a very old one given to me by my brother. It only has apentium 200 processor

rasher,
the only other thing to try is to delete the whole dialler folder as chealsie says.
I would do it this way:
find the dialler folder, but do not open it.
copy the folder and paste into my documents - this will create a backup if things go amiss.(or you can right click on the folder and send to / my documents) either way make sure you are happy you have made a copy.
go back to the ORIGINAL dialler folder again, do not open it .
Right click on the folder and select delete.
close down all programmes and reboot the computer.
when the pc starts again, check the icon has gone. Also, check you can dial up to the internet ok.
if everything seems ok you can then delete the dialler folder that was copied into my documents.
if , when the pc starts you get error messages or problems then you will have to copy the dialler folder ( from my documents) back into program files and reboot.
does that make sense?

(Sitting here wondering if I should post)
Does the dialer appear in this list?
![](http://homepage.ntlworld.com/anthonylodge52/Darren/Scoobynet/174754/msconfig.jpg)
If so, untick the left hand box and restart the machine
The above can be obtained by typing msconfig at the run prompt

you shouldn't need to try anything, you should have now moved the dialler file from the programs folder.
double check to see it is not in c:\programs any more.
if the pc boots up without loading the dialler icon into the right hand side of the taskbar you have cracked it. make sure your internet connection still works.

hyperthetically speaking of course
if I wanted to remove a programme that has installed itself whilst I was viewing another website, how do I stop this unwanted icon from appearing in the start up menu as it keeps automatically reappearing even though I have uninstalled it and deleted it from the recycle bin.
Basically I want to wipe it from the hard drive completely. Surely there must be a law to stop unwanted programmes installing themslves without your prior knowledge or consent.
Any help would be appreciated
