RussP, typical ramblings of an Estate Agent!! Why not use 2000 bu11sh1t words where 3 could have done??!!
Whats wrong with me stocking the shelves in Tescos?? at least its an honest days work!! - why dont Estate Agents look out the window in the morning?? Because they would have NOTHING to do in the afternoon!!
Come on, RussP - admit it, its mickey mouse work for Walt Disney money!! If I was a fireman I would start an Estate Agency to enhance my already excessive wages still further!!
There we go - should warm up a Friday night nicely!!

Sorry, I rate car dealers higher than estate agents, they seem to exist under a semi-proffesional mystique alluding to being of the ilk of Solicitors and Doctors, I beleive they get chartered but I cant imagine it takes more than an afternoon.
I have had one tell my next door neighbours how much I had to spend and whrere I got it from. They put up a sign, take a few calls put it in the paper, send some halfwits round (with no money)
, send some halfwits (with money), it sells and they want two grand for about an hours work.

We are buying a house, but we had a problem with ours. The estate agent put the offer to the sellers incorrectly. We offered an extra 1.5K on condition that they leave the carpets, sofas, washing machine and fridge (the old lady had died so there was no onward chain etc)
The offer that was put to the sellers was carpets and sofas "and anything the vendor is willing to leave". This only came to light when the sale had been agreed. I rang up and the woman who took the offer said "yes I remember you asking for that but that was before we wrote the offer"
Luckily we had a sit down with the seller, and they really only wanted the fridge and the wardrobe, the rest we could have so that was ok with us.
Having said that, there are good people/estate agents etc. For example a friend of mine is an estate agent. Unfortunatly he deals with the half mill upwards.

Don't worry, Estate Agents have a nasty shock coming to them in 2004............
The OFT are just about to start putting together a report on fair trading and pricing of Estate Agents......Will make very interesting reading don't ya think!!!!
Must admit I've just sold for the 3rd time (2 fell through) have made them work for their fee this time too. Had them do all the leg work on the new one we are buying but I agree they do tend to be a little sparing with the truth when it comes to following a sale.
Have dealt with one in the Grimsby area that completely wasted my time and forced up the price of the house we were buying so we backed out leaving the vendor high and dry and the agent looking exceptionally STUPID!!!! Would rather go and knock on a vendors door than use them again!!!!
Next time I'm gonna sell MY way, without an agent!!
Disclaimer: No offence intended to any of the members who happen to E.A.'s lol
