Agreed tractor but (always a but where stishrek concerned) saddham is much more of a wild card than other rogue states like n. korea and china.

I really could see him and his look-a-like tin pot generals supplying terrorists with biological weapons for the sheer satisfaction of wiping out a few thousand westerners.

is it worth taking the chance in this day and age?

North Korea is a much bigger threat that Iraq in terms of instability in a region. N. Korea is now stating that they will pre-emptively attack US forces if a military build up continues. You cant complain if they did, because that is exactly what the USA is saying to the world, they believe pre-emptive military force is an OK concept, very dodgy ground.

If the UK/USA were bothered about Saddam being a dangerous and evil dictator, why did we supply him with the equipment and inteligence to make chemical and biological weapons in the first place? It's our fault this guy has this technology, at the time we helped him fight Iran, Our enemy in that region. Iraq is a western invention which gained ideas above it's station when they invaded Kuwait, prior to that Saddam was our buddy.

The issue isnt how nasty Saddam and his regime is, the USA/UK doesnt give a toss about that, it never has done either. The issue is we have created a timebomb and are afraid that the technolgy Sadam posses will get out of Iraqy hands. This isnt so much about Sadam, its about whats going on in the areas of Iraq he doesnt control, where groups like Al Quaeda are trading for military and Bio weapons.

Personally, i think we are all screwed anyway now. It's only a matter of time before a major bio/chem or dirty bomb is set off in a major city. The technology is there and easily obtainable. You can go to an ex soviet block country and buy a dirty bomb if you have enough money. It may take 1 year, it may take 50, but sooner or later we will witness a huge tragedy and there is nothing we can do to prevent that.

Wars like what will happen in Iraq are just going to take our attention away from the realities of the mess we are all in now.

Just go out and enjoy your scoobs, because what we think isnt going to change what will happen eventually. The Cold War was the good old days, as daft as that may sound.

All IMHO and i dont think about this crap at all normally, what's the point, i have no control over what is going to happen.

agree with you johnfelstead

we live in very unfortunate times now. The cold war was trivial compared to this.

The recipe for the perfect disaster is out there:

Loads of extremist nutters
Loads of bio/chem/nuclear weapons

How can you say the two will never come together. They will and unfortunately the clock is ticking.

The UK is very small so god help us if they plan a major attack.

So is there any point having a pension plan. should you just live for the moment and squander any money on a nice motor?

what a world to bring children into.

I guess the fact that the Police throughout Europe are catching terrorists atm (some with chemicals like ricin) has escaped you both. I suppose thats just to make sure we can visit supermarkets safely, lol. 9/11. shoe bomber etc, dont you think the world has changed since 'the last time'.
