Rubbish World Rally TV showing times
#32
I think some money could be made from this farce.
What about setting up a 'Guess what time Chanel 4's WRC coverage is on' sweep?
I realise that nobody would get it spot on, as not even C4 know what time they're going to put the programme out, but maybe spot prizes for guessing to within the nearest couple of hours would work.
What's wrong with these people? They've got the coverage, they've got the audience, yet they want to play hide and seek with the schedules
Since the casual viwer is unlikely to see any of the programmes, except by chance, I really can't see how this is going to benefit the sport.

i agree totaly.the times are bloody stupid.why is it when things like tennis and cricket are on they can be on telly all day,and we only get 25-30 mins of rally.
channel four keep saying how big rally is getting so why do we not get more? surely they could stretch the highlights out for an hour.

Is this event covered more fully on any of the satellite channels? If, so then possibly they will dictate what and for how long the terrestrials can show.
Don't have a dish and won't subscribe anyway ..... their loss ... not mine.

The World Rally Championship (as it was) seems to be getting sold down the river (by DR) all in the name of the great God TV and then the terrestrial TV station that gets the coverage (CH4 in the UK) are allowed to show the daily programs at TOTALLY ridiculous and inconsistant times of the days.
Really bad that this sport is being forced into a certain format away from the way that it should be going in the main because of TV.
If TV loses interest (as happened with snooker) then by that point it will be of little interest to anyone.
I had also hoped that the CH4 coverage would had 'matured' a little after it's initial introductory year but no we still get Penny Mallory shouting over-excitedly at the camera and Jon Desborough wittering away.
Then Eurosport enlist some female commentator instead of the ex-BBC bloke (Mark Thomas ?) who sounded like he knew and loved the sport.
