Me too. Threats of job cuts, sold the car to reduce financial burdens. Being made redundant at the end of March, but at least with 6 months salary.

If I can get a job sorted quick, then I'll be sorted, only I will be going for a daily runaround and a Westie (not the dog!)

Stuart J - hope all goes well with the new Tavia - I was torn between the 4x4 and the 2wd RS when I changed - if they made a 4x4 RS with a even more horses under the bonnet, now that would be good!

Have you seen www.briskoda.net yet?

When I started looking to buy my scoob (1st and only so far) pretty much every time I test drove a privately owned car it was always due to money, or practicality reasons (eg. kid arriving/getting bigger, moving home, lack of job, things like that). The only other one was 'cos it's not as refined for motorway cruising as was wanted, I promptly bought that one - he was looking at a fast Audi (estate?) next.

I'm in same situation as ADP earlier - need a job, so if I don't get one by May I'm gonna be selling mine too (sure I will though, cross fingers, touch wood etc.). Don't want an Evo, next car may be an '03 in a few years time or try out a Civic Type R or something. Or back to normal-dom and wait a while before getting an Elise/VX220/.. too.

Sold mine due to poor reliability and uninvolving driving experience. Sure it was fast but not enough fun. Replaced it with a Mazda 6 estate which is more fun to drive but slower, miles better equiped, cheaper to insure and run, and looks miles better. Also has more toys and cost new what I got in part ex of a 2 year old 5dr Impreza Turbo.

Subaru are going to have produce one special car to tempt me into ownership again.

REGACY

Shouldn't that be "why did you sell your Impreza?" for most people?

I know you had a Legacy (I went the comfort route also)and to be honest they are a better all round car IMHO - that's after owning 2 Imprezas.

I always felt that the original Legacy Turbo I had in 95 was far better value than the Imprezas that followed.

Imprezas are great cars with strong points that outweigh most of the weak ones, but I hope that I.M officially bring in the Legacy Turbo / higher output H6 with the new model in October at sensible money.

If not, it'll be the Mazda 6 MPS 280bhp 4x4 for me !

ps You know all the great press on the UK Mazda 6 - well they already do a naturally aspirated V6 with 220bhp in the US

Cool

It looks like IM will bring the next Legacy turbo in to the UK.
If that's the case then I'll give it a couple of years for the bulk of the depreciation to get rubbed of it then I'll be back.

Smile

to the lot of ya.

I haven't sold mine because;

1. I can afford the petrol, as it's only a weekend car
2. From the mods i've done it's faster than 95+% on the road, and handles as well as the best of them,
3. It's fantastic fun scything past almost anything in an unmarked "what's that?" wagon
4. It's practical
5. It's reliable
6. It's not bugeye-ugly (MY97)
7. It's in almost concours condition and has never been thrashed or track-dayed
8. Any other car i buy would depreciate anyway
9. It's only costing me about £600 pa insurance, and
10. It still makes me smile every time i drive it!

Go and BUY one today...!!!!!
