Breitling watches are certified chronometers..........
Chronometer(which is a certificate )means the watch has passed a number of tests, one being a test where the movement is monitored over 15 days and nights at temperatures of 23deg,38deg and 8deg C,so the temp variation from country to country should not alter its precision.
To gain the certificate"chronometer"the movement must be within a mean rate of between -4 and +6 seconds per day.
If your Brietling is not keeping good time, take it back simple as that,if its faulty they will fix it,if it needs servicing they will carry this out too, expensive and takes between 6-8 weeks on an auto movement.
Later Yoza
PS sorry for being an anorak, but I love my Brietlings and will always fight for their corner.

Yes that is correct.
Doesnt sound to impressive I agree.
But its the bench mark for all manufacturers to obtain this chronometer certificate.

Got my Rolex after reading Dava Sobel's book Longitude, and finding out the origin of the word chronometer - simply had to have one after that. Would have been a TAG otherwise.
It was OK but has now speeded up to gain over 10 secs/day. I believe that as it is more than a year since it was serviced, any adjustment would have to be paid for (out of guarantee). And at 175 quid for an official service (expected every 4-5 yrs), I can't be bothered.
I'm still pleased I got it though. Don't care about showing it to others - it just reminds me that I managed to fulfill a boyhood dream. I leave the fakes to the posers. Saying that, my wife got a Calvin Klein fake in Bangkok in January for four quid, it does the job for the moment. All she wanted was a pretty watch.
She's getting a real Rolex when they finally come in the local shop though, despite what I said above

You can get them adjusted (regulated) to be very accurate - and won't need a full service to do it - as long as its consistantly fast.
I have been lucky with my automatic "chronometer" - it runs about half a second a day fast, but if I wear it 24hours a day it runs more or less bang on.
Good enough for me, and better than a couple of cheaper quartz watches I've got kicking around.

Paul,
Watches of Switzerland in London, IIRC the 4k ones are the radiomir model. basic luminor ones range from 2-2.5k (2.5k for the ones with the power reserve indicator)
Merkin
