Not really been using the radar to be honest, I've not got round to installing the unit properly yet but I am very happy with it.

The radar can be switched of and just the GPS used if you want, the RLD is an SD815S AFAIK so it will have the same spec as that.

My mate is selling his RA to buy one so that must say something to those of you not sure about which one to get!!

Thumbs up

Cheers Stu, 2 mins ok. I was just worried about MJW's comment of "and the unit was downloading and ready to go within a couple of hours"

I guess he meant installing it all.

Is there any way of adjusting the screen contrast? mine seems very pale and a bit tricky to read.

Performance Products quote something like a couple of hours to 'activate' your subscription, in reality mine was completed by the time i had come off the phone and plugged the unit in.

It must depend on how busy they are, it's safety margin.

Occaisionally the unit doesn't update first time, you will know when it's downloading as the 'compass' rotates.

Stan, you get 6 months free updates then you either pick from paying £4.95 a month or £99.95 for 2 years (seems you can't pay yearly which is odd)

I spoke to the Snooper guy's at Autosport International, they said that there was an update to change the screen to a blue background and this is FOC. I haven't bothered as yet as they must be busy enough as it is and it doesn't bother me too much at the moment.

Hi guys,

Ref the screen. I emailed Performance Products and said that I had read here that the screens would get replaced foc. I got this reply.

"I will contact you when the new unit is in stock, we can discuss arrangements from there on.

Many Regards, Stuart Edmondson"

So, I will keep badgering him about the new screen, as mine is quite difficult to read due to glare.

RE: Radar. Mine bloody blips away all day. There seem to be K-Bands all over the place, to the point where I have no turned this option off.

RE: Laser. I seem to get laser warnings when clearly there is no-one wearing a yellow jacket pointing a gun at me. Drove past some trees the other day and got a laser warning !

RE: GPS. very good, BUT, it doesn't pick up all the speed camera in my area (Southampton/Bournemouth). Just drive into Bournemouth and there are 4 camera's inbound, and 3 outbound. It doesn't pick up 4 of them.

I have 'hotspotted' them in. Maybe they are duff cameras ?
