Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Even if it is wrong ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
I'm sorry but aside from the P1 and 22b the 01-onwards car is a different kettle of fish. Replace the wing with a rallytech and get rid of the bugeyes and you've got one truly fantastic looking car. The flared arches, colour coding, curvy back end...it turns so many more heads than most of the classic shapes. I can see people mouthing 'wow' (although maybe thats the exhaust note).
Also the interior and build quality (listen to the doors shutting for example) are on a different level altogether. I love the classic, I just really love the newer shape, mainly for the arches and the stance it gives the car with a set of Eibachs.

I'm in with the 15 year old! the 01-02 looks like a daewoo with a spoiler, come on, the ride, handling and performance of your car are the main components but but you would at least expect these to be coupled with a look that makes you want your car to be yours. The -00 models may not be the best looking cars in the world but they at least look good, at a conservative observation, the 00-02 model lacks this I feel, any comments mr 15 year old??

I think Subaru want to hit the States. And we all know they don't do a bundle on looks... but the Bug Eye came top of class in safety. Lets be honest the classic without a scoop, two grills a deep spoiler and tall rear spoiler (MY99 on onle remember) looked very much like a Hyundai Accent. My bug eye has grown on me but I am glad I only got it on a 2 year lease. Roll on March 04.

well Ian, you arent alone, and dont let them other couple of arrogant 16 year olds try and change your mind by imposing their views either.
As others have said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and its not just the look that you have to consider (although why they have those horrible door handles on the my01 onwards instead of a nice flush design like on the old scoobys is beyond me.... )

Flame Suit ON,
Much prefer the 01 shape with morrettes or uk 300 lights
Love the 22b
Not a lover of the P1 or early cars
Detest the 03 model (and yes I have had a drive)
Now had Subaru produced a 2 & 4 dr version of some of the concept cars that I have seen well............it would have been a different story....
It does seem Subaru have lost there way somewhat trying to get into the mainstrem right u there with Ford & Vauxhall----oh dear.........
And as for the overall shapes of cars something like the Ferrari 265 GTC or 250 really appeals to me.....

I never really liked how any of the Imprezas looked, but bought one anyway (my00). I can't see the outside when I'm driving it! Although the interior is another story altogether... The looks of the bugeye or baleno-eye wouldn't put me off those ones either.
They always seem to go for the generic Japanese style - my00/Hyundai, my01/Toyota, my03/Suzuki etc. It would be nice to see them try something brave and different, but I doubt it will happen...

Just to clear a few things up, I do like the classic style and also the my00 to my02 aslong as it has a headlamp conversion. And even the STi version of the new my03 still does not look that aggressive from the front, but the back and sides are a different story! (They look class) Anyway this is all my opinion so if you like the new one or hate the old when etc. That is your preference. Mr 15 year old= me aka Ian

Hmmhh. I have MY01 and apart from the awful bug-eyed lights which I've changed i think the styling makes it much more distinctive than previous models say apart from P1 and 22B. In truth the Classic look very dated now and without wings and scoops they are very Mondeo looking. Yet I feel that MY01 has a far more defined styling espechially with the coloured coded skirts etc. I've changed the wing to a scoobysport special but all the other changes are under the skin full decat, brakes, suspension etc so now it holds its own with any one else but I feel just looks better.
With regrad to MY03 don't really know test driving the STi8 this weekend so see. From pictures scoop looks horrendously big.
Yet don't you all feel that the basic looks are not really that important we all simply change them all to our own liking so that all scoobs become very individual in looks and power. Some people still like gold wheels so style and taste are clearly not that important.

Ian the problem is that you are about 3 months too late. Teh MY03 discussion was done massively 4 months ago. You could try the search facility and search for MY03.

I don't see the problem. If Ian wants to start his own discussion thread about the new model then that is his perogative. After all its a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Isn't that what this Subaru Forum is all about?
Ian: Glad you are interested in one of the best performance car breeds![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
To add my opinion to this thread I actually prefer the MY02 with Morettes or better still WR Sport (UK300) lights ('cos I got them
) to the MY03. But its all down to personal taste, and lets face it, when you are behind the wheel enjoying the dynamics you don't see the outside!

Just trying to explain why he hasnt had 50,000 replies that the 10,000 threads 4 months a go had.
Plus if more people used the search they wouldnt feel liek people are ignoring them.
How many threads have we had :
How do I post images ?
How do I do smilies ?
How do I do links ?
Which oil ?
Which air filter ?
Which fuel ?
Which tyres ?
New member can you tell me what to buy ?
PPP what does it stand for ?
BTTT whats thats then ?
PPP is it worth it ?
Will adding loads of kit destroy my warranty ?
Will my car pass an MOT with a full decat ?
UK or Import ?
.
..
...
....
.....
......
The list is long, or maybe I have been on here too long
.

Anything to blow away the competition. 3.0 Litre twin turbo with 350-400bhp would be a good start. I think the rnage is very limited at the moment is woudl be nice if they could develop a staging eg.
WRX standard = 220bhp
WRX stage 1 = 250 bhp
WRX stage 2 = 280 bhp
WRX stage 3 = 320 bhp
WRX stage 4 = 350 bhp
Could do the same with the STi model as well but woudl start higher up and go higher
.
That way you could buy which ever model you want and buy what performance you want.
Just my 2ps worth
cheers

Ian, you're right!
The WRC car is too tall:
![](http://www.schoolboost.com/4Mark/tommi_leg2.jpg)
Or isn't that what you meant?
As for not looking aggressive enough:
![](http://www.schoolboost.com/4Mark/petter_shakedown.jpg)
For what it's worth, I think you're entitled to an opinion. I prefer the looks of the facelifted classic, I currently own a heavily modified pre facelift classic and before I owned a modified Bugeye. The later cars are better, more suited to the mass market and won't complain when stuffed full over vastly overweight Americans. The earlier ones are more fun to drive and look better.
But that's my opinion. For as many variants of Impreza as there exist there will be an opinion that says each is the best/worst/benchmark/whatever. And plenty of people who'll not be interested in hearing a contrary view.
So sod 'em and you keep on posting![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

ian,
i have an opinion - that there are some jolly patronising people replying to this thread.
personally i would take offence to comments like "mr 15 year old" and "i'm with the 15 year old" "THE" what?![Confused](images/smilies/confused.gif)
you clearly have name and those that choose not to use it are extremely rude IMO.
if anyone esle had written this thread, they would probably have got no replys as the topic has been covered. loads of people have replyed and i think that it is because of your age, certain people think that it is funny to come on here and rip you. rather like the sort of teasing that goes on in the playground - think about it the supposedly more mature people replying to this thread. remember you were young once, no point in giving this lad a hard time because of his age, or am i going off on one?
i agree with you, the classic shape is the best IMO.
i used to live in Plymouth, mutley in fact, back in my student days. have since departed for a life of hardship on the isle of wight - doing some real work now!
got some great roads around there, i suspect you and your dad know of plenty! going out to bantham is a riot!
don't let this lot give you too hard a time!![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

Thankyou for your support Mista Weava (ex-bad bwoy dj of the southwest crew!) I try not to take offenceby what people say because i will only be rude back. It is nice to know that not everybody judges kids the same and seems them as theifin vandalising scum, which I admit some are. Thankfully I am not

Personally, I loved the 'classic', but couldn't grow to love the 'bugeye' which is why I changed my '98 for a P1. Love the new STi, that's why I bought one.
I know people say that you can't see the outside when you're driving it, but I'm afraid there are limits.
It's all subjective though, and opinions change over time. I thought the '98 looked great, but when I parked it next to my P1 it looked very dated. Pretty much the same with the P1, even though I always thought it was the best looking 'classic', when I parked it next to the STi it again looked dated. Still very pretty though.
Each to his own I say, and everyone has a right to their opinion. However, I do agree with Chris on a couple of points.
1. It would make life much easier if people used the search.
2. He has been on here too long
. Sadly though, I've been here for a year longer. Sad or what!
