check the oxygen sensor is working OK - if this has failed (as mine had recently) the ECU can't work out the air/fuel ratio and runs the car really rich. The longer you leave it the worse it gets and it just shoves loads of fuel in.

mmmmmmmmmm....
I run a totally standard STi3 on SUL 97 RON. I pretty much only drive the car on Motorways.
I generally get between 300 and 320 miles per tank full £40.
I very rarely go above 80, but usually give it a bit of stick when it gets on the occasional back road

afaik its only imports that donty have a low fuel warning all UK models should

12 mpg or thereabouts in my 99 sti ra - this is on backroads - I get to use lots of pedal but not too high revs (below 6000 usually). Caning it over the mountain I am sure I get much less than that where speed and revs are high.
I am on SUL only, is this a good thing?
