Ah Pete, that's because you have NO history!!!

Won NOTHING - EVER!!! Even with 2 Clubs, you've still won nothing... Dear oh dear oh dear... What it must be like to have a dreary One Nil win against NUFC as your sole source of Footballing pleasure. Such a shame.

I'm living it now too, however. 3rd in the EPL, 8 places ahead of Middlesbrough FC 1986 (we all know what happened to the old one!) and 17 points clear. CL Football (again) to look forward to, and more than likely next Season too!

Dream on Pete!

Cheers

"BORO thrashed the TOONS!!!!!!!!!!!"

As I said Pete, I thought Boro sados would take it as a thrashing. For the fans of other teams who have real strikers who score lots of goals a Season, a One Nil win is just a win. A thrashing is 4 plus goals, but then that rarely happens. Oh, sorry, you did put 9 past Bradford (reserves) the other week... Bradford reserves...

Keep 'em coming Pete. A sad little Club with sad little fans (who didn't take up their Home allocation for last night's match!).

"You couldn't sell all your tickets!
Sell all your tickets
You couldn't sell all your tickets..."

At HOME!!!

Now why didn't I think of making all this fuss when we beat Boro Two Nil earlier in the Season. That's TWO not ONE goal Pete.

Why didn't I? Well, it was just another win for us, and 3 more points on our way toward greater things. Still, fans of little Clubs get excited about beating the big ones I guess. And no one seems more excited than you Pete.

I was giving a talk and demonstration to 225 school kids in Middlesbrough today. I used loads of pics, of Football stars - Shearer, Dyer, Beckham etc. Not one kid mentioned last night's game Pete, not one, and none of them asked why there were no pics of Boro players. Even the kids in the town don't give a stuff!

Stick with it Pete, and keep dreaming that one day the mighty Boro may just do more than beat Newcastle Utd, at home in the EPL, once a decade! hahaha

Cheers!

Don't kid yourself!
can't be arsed to read all the replies but feel the result against the smog monsters shows what a below top three side the geordies really are! Granted, not much below top three, but not really right up there. Having said that I'd rather see Newcastle win the premiership than the Gooners or manc scum.

"below top three side"

You mean like Chelsea Markus (he says thinking back a couple of weeks to Chelsea losing at Home to Blackburn Rovers...)? Oh yes, and there was last Saturday's result wasn't there?

Yep, I don't think I'd regard Chelsea as a top three type team . They're just not good and consistent enough, but always have that potential, like Newcastle, to be stunning, and then flop bigtime against the likes of Rovers / Boro etc.

So bar ManUre and Arsenal, which other team DO you class as a top 3 side???

If it isn`t Chelsea and isn`t Newcastle, there aren`t any more condenders, are there?????

And please don`t say Liverpool. I`d rather watch grass grow that that lot!!!

A few of us are thinking about having a trophy made, so the Smogs finally have something to stick in their Trophy Room (yes, the DO have one!!!). Let's face it, the fuss they're making, you'd think they'd won the World Cup all by themselves!

Still, as you said, beating a big Club...

Cheers

Our away form has got to improve next season. Can`t fault our home form, but (and I know it`s stating the obvious) if we`d been more consistant away from home, we`d be pushing Arsenal big time.

There`s no reason why we can`t pick up points away, after all, not many teams fancy a game at SJP at the mo, why should it be different away??

Hey, we're all close but not close enough. The premiership would be so much better if we really did push the gooners and man u. Don't forget, Newcastle are playing so much better now than at the start of the season. They've finally learnt how to win in london, and have beaten Chelsea after quite a few tries . Hiccups against Boro and Wolves still show you've got a way to go.

I think I'll find out tomorrow at Highbury just how our season is gonna pan out. Not expecting us to win, but you never know .

It might sound like sour grapes, but I think getting beat off Wolves has done us a favour. We weren`t able to get distracted by the cup, so our league form stayed solid.

I do think Man U and Arsenal are ahead of everyone else, but just because we got beat off Boro, don`t think we can`t make it a big 3 instead of a big 2. After all, Man U have lost against "lesser" sides this season, as have the Gunners.

"we're all close but not close enough"

Er no. Not many are close at all. The gap's opening up between the top teams and the rest, and I don't just mean in points terms. Who's got money to spend? Who's getting 50+ thousand crowds? Who's in the 2nd phase of the CL? Who's 7 points clear of the 5th place team, 10 points clear of the 6th and 12 points clear of Liverpool? We're still breathing down the necks of ManYu, and despite our little "hiccup" the other night, still in with a chance of 2nd place.

Arsenal are long gone, but even they have their "hiccups" - losing to Sunderland at Home anyone? Why's everyone writing us off just because we lost to Boro the other night? If it turns a 9 match unbeaten run into a 9 match BEATEN run, then maybe...

Cheers

UEFA:

"Newcastle have got some of the most modern and up-to-date facilities in Europe. We were very impressed by St James's Park and in our view it's one of the best stadiums in the world."

Seems we're favourites to host next year's UEFA Cup Final. Anyone know how the tickets would be allocated? Presumably a small number witheld for the fans of the host City, and the rest (less UEFA's cut) split between the finalists?

Cheers

Cool

Lets hope St James's park gets the final .

Anyone going to Milan this week for the Inter game? I went in October '99 to watch our game against AC Milan and have to say it was one of the best away trips I've ever done. Milan is an excellent city for a beer or two and loads to do. Its also well worth taking a cab out to the San Siro to have a look around it during the day, as at night you can hardly see the roof with all the smoke from flares the locals let off .

Hope you win .

Well, BORO thrashed Newcastle, Man Utd AND Liverpool!!!

We out-play the 'so-called' bigger teams because they don't give us respect!!! Beat them all easy as it turns out!!

So, when you are talking BIG teams there is ONLY ONE - ARSENAL!!

To be BIG you NEED to beat BORO at will and only Arsenal can do that - end of story!!

Not me I'm afraid Markus. I can't get time off during Term time; College won't let me! It sounds good though. Fingers crossed for tonight!

Walwal, no I think you're right. Theres only 2 top three type teams at the mo, lol . The likes of Newcastle, Chelsea, & Liverpool are all trying to emulate them and develop that consistency needed to win the premiership.

"And I'm still amused you refer to a 1-0 victory at Home as a thrashing. We call 1-0, a win, plain and simple, but then we've got a Strikeforce who're used to scoring goals - lots of them! Shearer for example's scored the same number of goals by himself away from home, as your WHOLE team!!! Mind, you've got...

Ricketts and Macarone!!! ROTFLMAO"

Just thought I'd quote a previous Post Pete, as you seemed to have missed it!

As for only being a "Big" Club if you beat Boro - don't flatter yourself Pete. Few of the EPL Clubs give a stuff about a Team who're usually fighting relegation, and get knocked out of all the Cups so easily... Boro are just another 3 points to them.

Beating Boro at will? That's what we usually do. This Season it was just a hiccup (4-1 Away and 3-0 Home last Season). Let's face it, it's the first time you've beaten us at Home in the Top Flight for 26 years...

Cheers
