Anything vaguely suitable for £20 or under would do for me - see above post for why.
Just had a thought - what about slippers? You'd look a right prat and would have to take something else to change into when you got to wherever, but they might match one bit of the requirement. Readily available, cheaply, too.

Adidas Samba`s. Good for everything
Too old school
I used to wear samba's for driving me westie - never a problem, and you could actually feel which pedal your foot was on.
