just want to say i bought a grill from derek, fitted fine as far as closing the bonnet goes, maybe you've positioned yours too far back or forwards any way i had a problem because my car had twin headlights fitted and there was a gap, i phoned derek and the next day he came to the bodyshop and made the grill fit round the morettes,it took him about 1 hour, he said he'd done it before for his mates car, and the result was mint, i can't fault his parts i'm sick of my eyeballs being ripped out by other people, i went to his works and he makes a lot of architectural stuff from grp and its unbeleivable some of the things he makes and he only makes the subaru parts as people have went to him asking for bits made,i think we've got a good thing here i don't want to lose it, i bought a splitter from him that was cheaper than classic shape light covers from tsl!!!
forgot to say he never charged me to change the grill

oak and johnpaul, what year was your car..???

It might just be the earlyer classic impreza's that there is a problem with. The facelift grill at 97 and at 99 wont fit an early classic impreza.. However dereks grill will fit any car from 97>

Derek you say you only changed the sides, and the copy was from an STI6 grill which has a different bonnet to the early impreza's.

Derek

Thanks for the 'idiot proof' remark if it was aimed at me..!! and as it turns out its the grill that is at fault, at least trying to fit it to a pre facelift bonnet impreza..

Notice the difference of the grill from the standard grill in the pic below..

It will fit cars from 97 on because there bonnet was different and you just fill the sides..

Dan i didn't aim my idiot proof remark at you,or anyone it was a bad choice of words, no offence meant, i just wanted to say i've fitted these grills the splitters i make the scoops everything in a short space of time and i meant how can i tell people to fit things which seem straight forward, it was just a phrase it wasn't meant as a offensive remark.

Talking

there is confusion over these grills, so i think the best things is not to sell anymore, i want to try to help people out by making parts at a reasonable price but i don't want people to get parts where like dan hes had to cut bits out, thats no good to anyone
problems aside Dan your car looks mint the grill looks good, you've done a good job with that jigsaw.

Derek

I know I bought this 6 months ago and as I explained in the email I first sent you (perhaps if you had phoned me as I asked any misunderstandings could have been avoided) the only reason I didn't contact you before was because I hadn't tried to fit it (I don't have a garage and its a bit inclement over the winter). I am not trying to slag off your products I any very happy with the fog light covers you sold me, and I still agree that your prices are very good, however this doesn't alter the fact that the grill you sold me doesn't fit the car as intended and doesn't even look close (not a case of sanding)therefore I have asked for your help! again thanks for the Idiot proof comment (I think cutting the whole top off the thing is a LONG way from idiot proof).

Any of you guys that have this fitted to an early WRX (mine is MY93)I would apreciate a photo or two.

Still hoping to get this resolved

well i dont want to go into it on here...

It was probably down to my impatience..!!! thats one thing i was never blessed with...!!

They are about £40 which in my opinion even if it did need modding is bloody good value.
