Oh good! Personal insults now too.

Keep it coming. Is it so hard to admit you were wrong?

Read your own posts - you'll soon find the bad advice.

The thread in its essence is not a bad idea, to be honest. If people want to lose weight, then they are generally more successful when they have support and a collective mind to bounce ideas around.

However, the advice needs to be factual and helpful. Quick weight loss is all very satisfactory, but it's the maintainence of such weight loss that requires the life-style change and a sensible, healthy eating plan.

Each person is an individual, obviously and if you've found something that works for you and you're pleased with it, however unhealthy then well done.

"Losers".

If you're going to continue to wallow at the level of personal insults, at least spell it correctly.

Luke, you know you've lost. You know you can't win. Instead of giving reasoned arguments and pointing out where you think you've given good advice, you have turned to insults.

Very big of you...

WOW - 6 pages of Turbo Kitty -v- Luke

Any chance you could all cut the cr@p now and keep this thread out of muppets

Luke, as a suggestion, why don't you start a new "Results of the Diet" thread - keep the how out of it and just run with the problems/results/temptations, etc?

D

LOL

If you can drop a stone in a week, must have something to see after 2 days

Sorry - couldn't resist

The "cr@p" reference was to the bickering - not the subject

Reply from barrister

" is this for real!!!!

Her other comment was related to the idea that i was giving dangerous information about diets. And had mentioned that she could find no mention of any reference to a "diet" ( controlled intake of food) only been used to lose a stone in a week.

But due to "private" reasons she knows its possible.

but again she said " is this for real"....!!

There's fun and there's very iffy advice. You go tell your doc or a well trained & experienced member of the fitness team at a local gym that you can lose a stone in a week. They'll flip!

Chris, you right, they would... But again for the slow..... I never said it was a diet. I never said it would be fun. It is dangerous and i would never reccomend it. But it is possible and many have done it.

So the only iffy advice is ??????

TK,

I've looked through this and nowhere can I see him offering bad advice. All he's said is it's possible. Not that it's good, not that it's healthy, just that it's POSSIBLE.

It's all very well you posting links to various medical sites explaining the pros/cons of dieting or weight loss, but to be honest, nowadays that means nothing.

Think of the medical implication turnarounds revolving around food that have occured over the past few years. First, eating one thing is dangerous, will seriously impair health etc, then a couple of years down the line it's actually "beneficial to health"

I'm not saying the links you've posted are incorrect, but you don't know they're infallible.

Doctors who gave out "sound advice" or drugs 20 years ago are now finding themselves being sued due to the damage to health certain products have caused.

Like I've said before, I don't necessarily agree with diets but I can't see where Luke has posted anything bad.

It's just been you assuming what he's saying is bad without understanding what he IS actually saying.

Whats next - you gonna start saying that people who reckon they have slow metabolisms really exist?

I stand by everything I have said, but we have been asked to stop arguing about it, so I have. Enough, ok?

Just for information though, Craig, did you also read the other thread, the one that ended up in muppets and has now been deleted? That's the thread where (IMO) the bad advice was, not this one.

Question

You accept that it wasn't fat loss though, right?

And you also accept that it's dangerous to try it, yes?

And you realise that since it's not fat loss it's of little use to anyone interested in losing weight, agreed?

In 1993 on one occasion i lost about 12 pounds in a week, as part of an extremely strict diet.

Having a litre bottle of water at the start of the day, knowing that i wouldn't get any more until the following morning.

Being constantly hungry. Finding sleep difficult because of hunger.

But that was for a special purpose. It *is* possible to lose substantial amounts of weight in a very short space of time, but i cannot think of a single instance where this would be considered "healthy", let alone "desirable".

Just my 2p's worth...
