RYK U R A **** (and stop shouting..... it is not big or clever)
The police will but it on record if you go to tell them.
Pick a sensible time of day, i.e. not on their busy times, when the shifts are changing etc....
It is better that they have your side of the incident as well as the other guys.
If it goes no further then no harm done, if he takes it further then you are in a stronger position.
If you do go and it is just noted then take a note yourself of the officers number and the time.
Oh and go to Here to get a better answer.

.... and here's a sweeping generalisation ... but, based on ever mounting evidence of my own ears and eyes ...
IMHO ... BEWARE of anyone driving a 4x4 and any of their various clones ... some of which are now of "Monster Truck" proportions. No doubt in my mind the kind of drivers these vehicles now consistently attract. Had a near identical experience to yours with a youngish geezer in a Frontera, probably his Dad's vehicle. He too was jumping up and down in a the driver's seat like a demented Chimpansee. What did I do to upset him? After all I was only in my wife's 1.6LX Montego for crissakes .... beat him away from the lights that's what ....... Oh the ignomy of it all ... :O))
On the way to work this morning I pass through two of those staggered chicanes where one direction (mine) has priority over oncoming vehicles. Chap in an oncoming 4 litre JEEP Monster tried to use his bulk to assert HIS own priority. Saw it coming and my road positioning left him in no doubt that I was not having any and he had to brake heavily and pull back onto his side..... day before at the very same chicanes, school mom in a Range Rover tried the same bulk intimidation ...
No doubt in my mind ... that's why many of them buy these bulky monsters .... Mine's bigger than your'n so git outa my way or else ....

Mate if he ran into back off you its his fault full stop. He wasnt driving a safe distance behind you no matter what you where doing. If you have any hassle e mail me as i know a company who are the dogs dangly bits at this type of work of making him pay up. Someone ran into back off my wife , this company made them pay for everything including hire car. It will only cost you a phone call and they will tell you there and then if you have a case. We where well impressed with them.
E mail if youve any hassle mate and i will send you phone number

Just to add my twopenn'orth... It's worth reporting it to the police just so it is in their system. You never know, they may have a file of complaints about this chap.... Failing that, if he reports it first, he is going to give a distorted view.
Regardless, he went into the back of you, ergo he was not travelling at a safe distance behind you. His fault.

Just re-read my post. I did not say clearly that since you exchanged details you do not have to report to the police. However as you were advised by a few people, it is worth doing it. The fact that you go of your own accord strengthens your statement and anyway, there is no way you can be blamed, witnesses or not. You will not be wasting their time-you have an absolute right to report the other man's hostile and dangerous driving as well as his threatening attitude afterwards. Dont let him get away with it and do it to someone else later.
