if one of the partys running for govement dropped prices to a pound and 80 p for diesel and said that the vat was capped for 5 years they would be in power why dont they realise this most people need fuel to go to work work keeps us in the money which means we can spend so there for keep others in work if fuel keeps going up and its not preductive to work we stop making money and there for dont spend which leed s to others not being needed at work and so it goes on major market crash
just stop being greedy electic will never work as its worse for enviroment than good old petrol as most power stations that make electricity are nuke and coal burning
come on lower the price or stop sitting on alternatives like alcohol ethernol etc power to the people rant over lol

Fuel duty not going up til Autumn IIRC, but as a barrel of oil goes up, the actual cost of the petrol (not the duty) does too.
Always baffles me how (for example) BP actually own the oil, BP refine the oil, BP manufacture the petrol, BP sell the petrol, but BP also say that petrol has gone up due to the price of oil going up..........
......So.........BP make money on the raw product, yet still charge more for the refined product, even though the whole chain is owned and operated by themselves......how the **** is that???

We get taxed on tax which is beyond belief
Current fuel duty tax is 50.35ppl. We then get taxed at 17.5% on that along with the additional cost of the fuel
I thought VAT was supposed to be value added tax, but yet we are paying tax on tax
A 2p increase in fuel duty is actually a 2.4p increase at the pump when you take into account the vat that we are charged on top.
The thing is, when the price of a barrel of oil drops, will we see our fuel costs drop down? Will we see the 6 pint of milk that costs £2.36 drop back down to £1.80, will we see the loaf of bread that now costs £1.30 drop back down to 95p.
Its a fu*kin disgrace. Inflation only at 3% though

I think we are in big trouble and will spell the end of the performance car as we know it.
I can appreciate that oil prices have rockedted skyward but it leaves a sour taste when 70 odd pence per litre is tax, the goverment is turning a blind eye because it knows the amount of revenue earnt is immense.
Maybe when they get booted out at the next election they'll realise the f**k up they have made this country.

like i said, i have heard people wingeing about fuel on this website for nearly 6 years now, and the best that the wingers can do, is sign some pointless government online petition = fail
when the last "protests" happened

Maybe the end of some cars as we know it, but not for performance cars. For example a Lotus Elise after 2001 first registered will be band D (£125 pa) to tax and can do well over 50 mpg.

I just bought my first Scoob....LOVE IT! I drive a 98" Punto 60S to work and around town....the Scoob is my baby and its gonna stay my baby whatever happens....stuff the government....they aren't gonna stop my passion for cars!
Yeah, its expensive and getting worse but its still worth it because everything is getting more expensive!
I do 100 miles ragging my g/fs golf 1.6 16v around Peak District and it costs me £17.10 (30mpg@£1.14per/l)
I do 100 miles ragging my WRX around Peak District and it costs £33.08 (17mpg@£1.26per/l)

Fuel is catching up with the UK but far less traffic and police and no road tax
80p a litre oooo those where the days. Shi* I am 28 and feeling old remembering the good old days of cheap fuel.
