Subaru Concept Car - HELP NEEDED TO GET THIS CAR INTO PRODUCTION......
#32
The front looks like it has been designed by three different people who didn't talk to each other. An Alfa with the good bits removed. The side and 3/4 views look very heavy, lots of metal (or plastic) and not enough glass.
If it's meant to be a coupe, get rid of the back doors. If it's meant to be a practical car, make the back doors big enough to be usable.

The car is stunning.
I personally would not buy a bugeye [didn't] or the MY03 as I've been there and done it with the aggressively moulded pocket rockets now.
But a 3.0 Twin Turbo. Yes please.
Pricewise, we all know this will weigh in around the 30-35k bracket.
The back is a little too high for my taste but it is in keeping with the rest of the design.
I do like the front. Anyone sees that in the mirror ... speed up or move over. Thank You.
I like "suicide" doors. Make it easy to get kids in/out. But they will be told they're copying Mazda

IMHO it looks great, tough, smooth, clean looking.
The only design aspect I dont like are the scrub strips down the side. They look a bit 70's or something
Other than that, great effort.

is it just me or does it look like a hippo from front on ?
something about those wing mirrors being like hippo ears,
anyhoo,
nice, are subaru straying into unfamiliar terroritory from their usual market and experience ?
or is that just business twaddle !? ;-)

Subaru are now starting to get the idea with styling, at last!
Back view and side on views are great.
Front view not so good, too much like an Alfa (hardly surprising given the designers past experience) and too strong. Need toning down.
A flat bonnet scoop would help.

i think it's great so long as not too expensive. I would replace my Imperza with something like that. I like the new breed from Japan at the minute such as the nissan 350Z but love the qualities of the Subaru. Something that funky with Impreza or better running gear would do the job for me..
My missus hates it though, that could be a stumbling block....

i saw this car a while back and have seen some concept drawing for it to personally i think that looks ugly and does not deserve to have the name impeza.car styling is going very whats the word (Audi TT ish) its not nice and i really do think that modern cars could indeed look nicer.. i work for rockstarnorth (GTA)as a car modeller we take cars from the year that the game is set and the style of car that we need and redesign them i just think that this car has gone way off from the impreza that we all love and know, and look more like some sort of vacum cleaner.
2003 model is cracking and i always find my selff looking at them when my scoobys in the garage.
anyway rant over just hate this styling that is about at the moment its a space age look that really died with spok but has reterned!!!

So do you think Subaru should keep with the airfix bolt-on kits?
The shape of the Impreza has stayed the same for quite a few years now. I thought manufacturers gave a particular shape/style a shelf life. Eg Ford changing from Cortina-Sierra-Mondeo, all were slated.
BMW go for three/four cosmetic changes and then a radical restyle.
It seems, as mentioned the rally option will go to the smaller cars in future.
Just asking, excuse the airfix comment. I like my MY98 Terzo with all its adornments. But I do feel, though they are undoubtedly better cars the BugEye and MY03 cars are a bit .... tall and lardy.
i seem to be the only one to like the grill. Will I be the exception that makes the rule

I Love it! If the front is designed like that to take a large front mount intercooler then its easily forgivable. I dont even think it looks too bad as it is.
OK, so its got a bit of 'Alfa' to it but it just blows away the post classic model (Bug eye and 03) - at last theres a Subaru I'd consider buying after a classic Impreza......
Biggest shame is that we have to wait for it and it will probably get toned down and compromised - hopefully they'll keep their nerve and keep the finished car as close as possible to the concept.

Bajie,
I saw the same comment in EVO.
But in defence of Subaru........
If people think they are copying Mazda they want to have a look in the history books. Cars have been made with "suicide doors" for ages. Think 1930's, running boards, Al Capone, the doors used to pop open when cornering hard, hence "suicide".

I really like the front - had a couple of days to think about it and I still love the car.
The front looks.... sort of.... BRUTAL I think best describes it!
Now, if they just made the grill a bit bigger... hehehe

The car is lovely apart from that attempt at a front, the centre bit needs calming down.
(Do you think you'll be able to buy the teeth as an optional extra? )
[Edited to say if this is the muts nuts, I wonder where Subaru have hidden them? ]

Great idea good design ,just the Front end needs some work to it, would like to also see a 2 litre version of the concept. And whilst we are on the subject i would love to see subaru bring out a small 3/5 door hatchback along the lines of a focus would do.

Think the B11S looks great, obvious from front end that designer is an ex Alpha employee. Must agree with comments from others about a 2 or 2.5 litre version, even then don't think I could ever afford one but so far it is the only car i have seen that i'd consider trading my MY94 in for.
answer to mickle's question (love the picture BTW)
[Edited to say if this is the muts nuts, I wonder where Subaru have hidden them? ]
Apparently one of the designers on the team is an ex SUMO trainer and it has been trained to 'suck them in' at will.

Like many people I am sure you have opinions on the new Subaru Concept Car good and bad, I for one really like it and would love to see it go into production. The only way we can get that is by impressing on Subaru what we think of it.
So here is your chance. Autoexpress have kindly agreed to take quotes and thoughts from us on the new car and if they get enough of a response they will print the views in the magazine. I don't work for AutoExpress but a very good friend of mine does and he is happy to take your quotes.
Please email him on news@autoexpress.co.uk with your thoughts and your contact details.

New concept - From the side, rear and rear 3/4 it looks fantastic (and it's not blue...). As long as it's backed up by the AWD/boxer combination for the mechanicals it could be a winner. But please please do something about the front - it seriously needs a nose job.....
Edited to add. Rear view is good, except for that central badge on the back. Do away with it - it very Ford-esque - not good.
