oooo goody another rock thread to carry on with

actually just had an idea for a post that could proove quite useful for us old rockers...

just listening to the last Magnum album at the minute, Breath of life, its not quite vigilante 2 of wings of heaven 2, but its not bad, certainly better than rock art!

Thunder have some stuff out at as well, as do two of the members (havent got round to listening to it yet tho).

My one time annoyance is that EVERY time rush have played in this country from force ten to current day i have had some major disaster in my life and couldnt go. In a way i hope they never come back, but its the one band i'd love to see and havent

seen Marillion about 15 times
maiden 3 times
saxon once
magnum over 10
lepps twice
alice cooper 3 times (was fun )
dave lee roth twice
kiss once
whitesnake once
bon jovi once
plus loads of others...

I was also at that sheffield arena leppard gig with terrorvision, ugly kid joe and a few others, was ok. not really great.

So have Rush toured in the UK recently? i keep trying to catch them but finding out about tour dates before all the tickets are sold out is difficult. The problem is heavy metal -hard Rock is not played on the radio enough.

Red face

When I was at school (yes it was that long ago) I went to see a band called Dark Star. God they were crap but they had a support band who were local ... called Marillion who were rather good. No record contract or anything like that so I bought one of their demo tapes

Prob, was the tape was pants so I taped over it. aaaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Saw them loads after that.

Just got the new Anthrax album (We've come for you all) today - speakers cranked up to 11 and let rip! What a stonking album - an absolute must for any heavy rock fan IMO!

Last album I bought - AudioSlave. As we're on the subject (sort of) of debut albums, this one is highly recommended. Not so much metal but good solid songs and a couple of nice ballads. I've had it on the ICE for about 5 weeks now...with only intermittent interruptions from Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I have bought Come Clean by Puddle of Mud which is good though you can tell they are American from the music but well worth the money another Band which people might not have heard off who have some good stuff out is Mukin a british band in London sort of Rock/Punk i have "were not pretty and were not Clever" by them and though it is very graphic in places some of it is good stuff well worth listering to if you get a chance.

I don't think Rush have toured the UK recently. The last time was for Hold Your Fire IIRC. I first saw then on the Moving Pictures tour and have seen them about 5 times since.

Their recent albums have been crap though, I think Presto was the last album worth listening to.

How about Jethro Tull - superb band, true entertainers.

Jethro Tull, is that the band or the person

Ugly Kid Joe
Gawd there's a blast from the past.
Whatever happened to them, I've got 3 of their albums (last being
in the late 90's) and then nothing.

Anyone remember Green Jelly and their metal version of the 3 Little Pigs? Now that was comical!

Just bought Linkin Park's new album Meteora today, sounds good! Might have to replace Saliva 'Every 6 Seconds' as the driving CD of choice.

PiNkEyE69 - good choice with Meteora - sounds good on first listen, but also one which'll get better.

Saliva - their latest album is superb - love the guys voice. I made a various artist CD with Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Linkin Park (both albums), Nickelback, Disturbed and Papa Roach - its my total driving CD! girlfriend has a copy in her civic and she grows horns listening to it

Green jelly- yeah man, I remember that and the sex pistols cover.

You might want to try Drowning Pool as well and also check out a band called Flaw (one of the better nu-metal bands of the moment).

Just out of interest, any Warrior Soul fans on this thread?

Cool

JohnS you shock me.

Unfortunately for me, I was a teenager when G'n'R's, Metallica and that lot were doing some good tours and I missed otu due to my parents not allowing me to go.

However, as soon as I could I was off to the festivals, Leeds, REading, Monsters of Rock and all them.

Tried drowning pool, shame about their lead singer, I liked Bodies, not to keen on Tear away.

System of a Down rocks, although I prefer Ariels to Chop Suey.

Marky-San - that intro to Meteora is wicked! The slow tumps and the glass breaking, really build the tension into the opening track (or track 2, depending on your view). Have you heard the Saliva song "King Of My World"? It's unrealeased (well, it's on a wrestling album!!) and not too bad, somewhere between Always and Your Disease in style

Bought POD's album but can't really get into it, apart from Youth of the Nation.

Good call mate! Fav track so far is 'easier to run' - love the lyrics to it.

These guys have the perfect balance IMO.
