don't *think* i insulted you or called you a name.
And no, I won't chill.
Just because you don't think I should be offended, does not mean that I'm not.
It doesn't take very long to become very bored with being called random names by strangers.

come on, don't be like that: TomatoKetchup instead of TurboKitty?
gawd.
you're just being precious now. if you can't identify leg-pulling for what it's worth then i suggest you bring your sense of humour back from the beach - or wherever it is you say you sent it.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I repeat, I don't know you, I haven't met you and I therefore had no idea how you intended the comment to be taken. Maybe it's possible that a
and a
were not as clear an indication of your intentions as you seem to believe. Regardless of this, I have made it clear that I interpreted your comment as an intentional insult. If someone I had not intended to insult informed me they had perceived something I had said in this way, I would apologise, at the same time as explaining I didn't mean it that way. The fact that you have not apologised and are in fact continuing to insist I am in the wrong can only lead me to the conclusion that you did indeed mean it.
The problem here is not me being oversensitive or precious. The problem is you making comments which could be, and in this case have been, seen as insults, without sufficient effort to make your intentions clear, and then arrogantly insisting that it's all the fault of the other party for interpreting the comment wrongly. Of course, it could never be you that got it wrong...How unthinkable.

1) 9/11 changed the US attitude completely. It's not that far fetched to think a suitcase nuke in Manhattan could be next which is a terrifying thought for them.
2) So US want to get to grips with terrorism. Agreed Iraq may not be first danger but they almost certainly have WMD (chemicals/biological) and possible access to unnaccounted for nuke stuff via the old Russian regime.
3) I can't think anyone really believes Saddam is going to "come clean". He'll string it along to the wire. This is why I think the French are so naive. The Arabs are the best salesman in the world and running rings around the UN.
4) The UN have lost much credibility over the years. Accepted that have kept a certain stability since the League of Nations but look at the huge list of Resolutions that are simply left open without action. e.g. the Israeli scenario (and US have a lot to answer for there).
Conclusion. I don't thank Saddam is the number 1 danger to US but he is certainly near the top of the list and would be an increasing danger if he is allowed to carry on regardless. And Iraq is a lot easier to deal with than N Korea for example.
I blame the French for the current mess for even thinking that Saddam will disarm peacefully however much time he is given. It just doesn't work that way.
It seems a pity that he and his power base can't be taken out without harm to civilians. I had hoped that he might have been persuaded to go into exile. On balance I think Blair should support the US.
It's going to be a real mess if and when the war finishes.
Just my take FWIW. DL

The Churhill comment is quite poignant though....
Churchill had to fight lots of criticism about his opinions over Hitler. Turns out he was right![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Maybe, just maybe, Blair/Bush knows something about Saddam that most people don't......
Dosen't really matter what the hell we think anyway - none of us can do a damn thing about it, so this topic is totally pointless![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Sit down and enjoy the ride.........![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

Jason, it's about intent. He meant to offend me, he succeeded, why should I let it go? I've never addressed a comment to Holy Ghost, abusive or otherwise, so why should I quietly accept personal comments from him? If I disagree with someone's view point, I reply with my reasons for disagreeing, or I leave the subject alone. I don't resort to stupid name-calling, (well, not often), and I don't see why I should continually accept this sort of behaviour from other people.
On some days it seems like it's not worth the bother. Today is not one of those days.

Back on topic - being pessimistic, I still think, it won't matter what anybody sez, this course of action, now it has started, will have to run to it's conclusion. Can't do nowt about that

Possibly. However, I don't appreciate the attitude that this is my fault for not realising that a
and a
meant that the comment was meant in a light-hearted way.
It was mentioned on another thread yesterday that it's easy to misinterpret comments from someone you don't know. I think Holy Ghost needs to consider how some of his comments come across to people who don't know him. He's not willing to take this seriously, and I am not willing to let it drop.

Yet another thread interrupted by personal "issues" between posters ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Can all concerned please give it a rest or posts will end up being edited/deleted to keep threads at least partly on track.
Please ask yourself this.
How would you feel if you started a valid thread, only to have it hijacked by individuals slagging each other off?

extraordinary. i wouldn't want to jump to any conclusions but you seem to be displaying signs of an obsessive psychosis and paranoia.
think what you like sweets. if you can't take a bit of harmless badinage - part and parcel of everyday life - without making a mountain out of a molehill, then that's your problem not mine. emoticons are there to express tone on this BBS: if you choose to deliberately misinterpret them, again, your problem.
if you hadn't made, in my opinion, an amusingly infantile remark then i wouldn't have responded by gently tweaking your tail.

Yet another thread ruined by stupid, unnecessary abuse aimed at 'you know who' for no good reason.
My initial comment was a valid opinion related to the thread topic. An opinion which at least one other person shares. It's not me that keeps starting the name-calling.
Diablo, I accept the point and I'll stay on topic. Sadly I doubt the same will be true for the people who seem determined to cause trouble.

As far as I see it you're all to "blame".
TK, have you never thought of just ignoring it, and being the "bigger person" as a result?

anyway, interesting point from bros2.
not sure blair is smarter than winston but i agree with the view that he's not doing this for anything other than clear, valid reasons, based on hard information we don't have access to.
he's not a reckless individual. nor is he a craven fool in thrall to washington.
i trust him on this and he has my full support in prosecuting this mess to an inevitably successful conclusion.

hey, cmon people...I started this thread with a serious question and have enjoyed most of the answers, this subject affects us all in some shape or form and its great to see others opinions.
Lets just brush the rest under the carpet and leave it as that - its a beautiful day, the sun is shining and its really not worth it [mellow hat on]
now back to the topic...
