What was your dream car when you were a kid?

Responses depend on when you were a youngster I guess. Me?, no contest, Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gull Wing from the mid-1950s. Along with the Jag E-type of 1961. Visually, nothing better since really .... my 2pees worth ...

RS2000 off the Professionals for a starter,
Throw in a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus and a Chevette HS or HSR(I can see a pattern forming here
),
I seem to remember a silver Porsche 959 with a private plate with my initials on it SJL![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Oh yeah off at a tangent slightly the Suzuki RGV250(Sex on two wheels when you are 15)

Lotus Cortina
Ferrari 500 Superfast (only 36 built, guaranteed top speed of at least 175 mph).
I don't think I've driven the Cortina, but I have driven a Superfast. It was originally owned by Peter Sellars when he was married to Britt.

Not this one, but RHD.

General Lee - We used to watch this then go out and do jumps on our Raleigh Grifters(Daisy was a babe).
Ferrari Daytona & Testarossa - Miami vice,pastel coloured suits worn with tee-shirts ,they dudes were cool.
RS 2000 - Cause no one messed with Bodie and Doyle.
Vauxhall Magnum - There was a local guy who had a white one decked out like a rally car (roll cage ,the works),he drove it about like a lunatic,but to all the kids,he was a god.

I'm another General Lee fan, even looked into importing a 69 Dodge Charger 440 R/T a couple of years back (didn't think that the 90 mile commute each day would suit it though
)
Mini's were also a huge favourite and I ended up owning a handful of the little buggers.
Also the Cobra and Lambo Miura were high on the list, but I was into anything with an engine as a kid.

Porsche 928, and later the Caterham 7.
My brother knew everything backwards about the Countach, so I wasn't allowed to "have" that. And I wasn't allowed to like Ferraris, because of the rivalry.
BTW, do you realise you can buy a Countach now for about 35k? Given the price of an STi7, why don't you? Answer; coz they're hell to drive and hell to service.

Can't remember what got me on to the Porsche, but Risky Business (and a very young Tom Cruise!) helped. Borrows his dad's car. At night, see the lights come on, seriously cool music starts. Car judders, music stops and lights go out. Turn the key, start it again, cool music starts again, try not to stall it this time ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Then dropping it into Lake Michigan. "Who's the submarine commander?"![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I saw one for sale for eight grand last time I was in the UK. Vaguely tempted, but running a five-litre engine and probably an auto box doesn't go with my desires or my needs. Still gorgeous to look at.

I have to admit that is pretty scary because those were the two cars I dreamt of too.

Lambo Miura in black. Never liked the Countach - too angular.
Laverda Jota 180 - fastest road bike ever made at that point (and, as I later found out, one of the most evil handling as well)
RS2000 Mark 1
Lotus Cortina
Lotus Sunbeam
Stag
TR6
GT6
SB

Bond's Lotus Esprit
Luke Skywalker's landspeeder
A black Porsche 911 with big arches like the ones in Condorman (remember that? Michael Crawford as a superhero)
