pslewis WROTE:

>> Its because you all pay the prices!! <<

I wonder how many read that line then quickly moved on without a second's thought?

The most over-priced part? .... as already mentioned ... The WHOLE blinking car and not just Subarus, all of them!

Also, why oh why do sooo many Brits form queues to pay well over the odds for their cars and motoring? New or even high mileage used ("motorway miles" ????)still paying well over the odds. Is it that easy personal credit and/or combined with job/company purchases resulting in folks simply don't bother to question just how much they pay for these things? Beats me because we all pay in the end.

Not just the Japanese, but the Germans, French, Spanish et al also refer to us lot as "Treasure Island".

Particularly the Germans who I believe build their UK spec BMWs 3 series (UK can't get enough of them apparently) not in Bavaria, but, in Seth Afrika (Rosslyn) taking advantage of cheaper labour and other costs.

Build 'em where cheapest - sell 'em where dearest .... that's to the Good Ol' UK Mug Car Punters. Apparently there's more than one born every .....

Gorn then, prove me wrong ..... I'd be delighted .... wassthat then? .... oink oink ... flap flap ..

Leave the stuff UNSOLD in the showrooms or on the shelves .... and prices WILL come down. No question! If YOU fail to do that, don't then complain about high prices..... ever.

IMHO spare parts for cars in general reflect their new prices i.e expensive car expensive parts, this has been and will forever be true especially for foreign and or exotic cars.

However if you don't want to pay for expensive spares you do have choices.

a) Don't use Subaru parts (will affect warranties)
b) Don't use your car you can't wear out what isn't used (lol)

reference to b) above you will still have to have it serviced every six months however.

I do about 3.5K a year in mine and refuse to pay for a service every six months prefer to do it myself and save money

Just my 2p worth

£28.50 + VAT for the SUBARU letters on the bootlid (MY01-02)

£46.50 + VAT for MY94-00 because the spacing is different ( letters exactly the same size)

Tileys of Bristol on a money making exercise £140 + VAT to fit a decat front pipe. ( and before anyone says anything, well sir if you don't pay it you don't get the car back ) Cost me £50 3 months before thats why I never got a quote first.

People wonder why I changed to a Ford..........

March 01, 22k for a WRX
March 02, 28k for STi7
Brake pads for STi7 are insultingly expensive.
Thing is, I dont think it's the dealers.

Oh, and I nearly got to the end of this month without visiting Listers. Popped in 2 days ago, 43k going next Saturday.

Sideways - £140 plus VAT is a good price m8 - considering a front decat pipe replacement (I assume its the downpipe) is a 2-3 hour job...& if those bolts seize (which they normally do) its a lot longer than that.

Try this for size - Porsche charge £800 to fit an exhaust back box & need the car for the whole day !! criminal !
