Been Messing With Photoshop
#31
its no the same as a cell shader, i've been looking online, cant find a free photoshop cell shader
I know I can do it in 3D Studio becuase they added cell shading for v5, but I dont have it at work, got it at home somewhere, probably only works on objects and not textures though.

Lol, i had no idea what was meant by 'Auto Modellista' when it was mentioned last night but typed it into Google and soon found out.
RB5 286, that high-res pic is excellent, mind if i have a wee play with it later? The second attempt of yours on my own car is very nice.
Going to have to open up Photoshop later and have a go using the 'cheats'.
IanW let me play around with his car earlier on, see what you think. Done in a much higher resolution this time.

Glad you like it Ian.
A mate came round earlier on tonight after spending 5 hours cleaning his car so i got some mega high-res pics and had a crack with it. 5 hours this time and nearly 4000 seperate lines!
The smaller version.
Working in higher resolutions leads to much better results imo.
What effects/filters di you use Brun?

I take it you did that in Illustrator Jay? Will have to get my hands on a copy soon. Looks excellent.
I've just been having a play with the filters on PS using all the effects used and mentioned above. I knew it was a capable program but am starting to realise now just how good it is. Had hardly touched the 'filters' menu before but i love some of the effects that can be acheived through it, particulary the 'fresco' one used above.

Lmao! I meant to drop something in my last post about cheating lol!
I'll crack open Flash in a sec and see if i can get the same effect.
Am still playing with the effects on Photoshop at the moment, going through them all so i can spot them in the future! I like 'plastic wrap'!
Will have a go at the silver car soon, then the mammoth that is that RB5 pic!

Ok,
i managed to find out how to do the effect in less then 3 minutes
1. select 'cutout' from the 'artistic' list in filters menu
2. enter ur values for the sliders, best for this effect is:
levels: 8
Simplicity: 0
Fidelity: 3
3. Duplicate the layer
4. Make sure u have selected the new layer
5. select 'find edges' in 'stylize' list from 'Filters' menu
6. press Ctrl+U, tick the 'colorize' box in the bottom right of the Hue/saturation window that has just popped up.
7. Make sure all three slider values are '0' click 'ok'
8. Select Image/adjust/'brightness/contrast'
9. adjust sliders to make your lines as heavy/dark u want them, when ur happy click 'ok'
10. U will now need the 'layers' window open, so if its not, window/show layers
11. Now in the top right, left of 'opacity' of the layers window u can select from 'normal/dissolve/multiply etc'
scroll thru them to get ur desired effect.
So easy and so quick
small adjustments can be made thru this process to however u want the image
Colour burn
Multiply

RB5, have just opened Photoshop up and tried your wee tutorial. I have to say that it produces a very nice effect, much better than just slapping a single filter on. I tried it with the Astra i did last night, i've stuck both pictures below for a direct comparison.
My attempt.
Cheating.
Very effective imo considering it takes such little time comparatively.
