What are Liv and Vic playing at ?

Renewal came through this morning and they wanted an extra £40.
I phoned them to put them straight on the mods they had listed for me (suspension - twice, engine - air filter, and exhaust) and tell them about what I had (wheels & brakes - new mods, exhaust), to which they lowered the premium £37. I moaned about the engine mod being just a replacement filter giving hardly any bhp improvement so she took it off.
Renewal is now £497 protected for another year. No-one else can touch it.
(MY99 turbo with mods, me 33 with 1 SP30, wife, unlimited miles, no tracker, parked on drive, full NCB)

Renewal through this week, £900, about £60 up on last year
A Plan got within £50.
The rest no chance.
If you can find anyone to insure an import.
One insurance co. wanted an engineers report for the exhaust.
GTB with H&S zorst.
31, 10yrs ncb, garage/drive(not that they care).
Looks like I'm staying put

I've heard many good things about Frizzels (aka L&V) for when you have to claim, many of my colleagues have insured with them for years (we're ex civil service). They sound like the perfect insurance company, don't knock it!! Hope this allays some fears!
I'm insured with them too btw, 28yo, full ncd, 6pts, UK MY00, exhaust mods, not garaged, just less than 800 quid. Did get quoted cheaper elsewhere but was happy to pay the little extra because I'd heard such good things about them in the event of a claim. I was slightly surprised when they said they weren't bothered whether I had a tracker or not though (I have). My insurance is dependant on me having CSMA membership however.

I'm insured with L&V, great company.
The way i see it, we are that used to been screwed by other insurance companies for every little mod we make to our cars, that we are all been taken a back because L&V are'nt screwing us, and only insuring the safer 30+ drivers the majority of the time.
Must be partly strategic, the majority of our cars have CAT 1 alarms, and quite a few trakers, and since when did a couple of mods make you more likely to crash?!

LV probably save so much on admin. and reduced time on the phones that they are lining their pockets - not to mention all the extra customers they must gain. In reality - don't people with modified cars tend to cherish them, fit extra security, park in safe places and tend to not like making insurance claims?? It's not obvious why such people should be charged an arm and a leg for insurance. So many other factors which are related to accidents are not asked about eg do you smoke, do you own mobile phone, do you carry childeren in the car so why focus on the mods?

Sorry that you took my post as a personal attack on you, but judging by the quality and content of your post, I am surprised that anyone will insure a 10 year old on any car let alone a 300 bhp Scooby. Refrain from using words over 3 characters in length if you can't spell them.
If you read my post (with my quote) carefully you would have seen that I am only 33. I was being sarcastic when refering to myself as an old person. I was giving those who are approaching 30 the hope that they too will be able to insure much more cheaply.
As for the fact that you don't consider young drivers higher risk than older drivers of 30+, that's total bollocks. Please show me the evidence. Why do insurance companies sell higher premiums to younger drivers and the older you get the lower they get? Are you saying they have got it the wrong way round?
The fact that you drive well within the law, etc.. is good, but insurance companies base their premiums on many different factors from statistics collected over many years, and if they were to assess each person on an individual basis, yes you probably would get a much lower premium, but you would also have to pay the £500 admin charge for them researching you individually.
When you said that LV are a total joke, pot, kettle and black sprung to mind. It is up to them who they insure, if you don't like it, tough, find someone else.
I have seen an article recently about owner's of modified cars echoing exactly what ScoobyDick said about them looking after their cars more than others. Afterall, you don't spend the time and effort making your car look and perform well, to then wrap around a lamppost. It did mention that insurance companies have noted this. Perhaps this is why LV over the last few months have relaxed their policy on mods.
Now where did I put my zimmerframe!

well if your other post was not an attack on me personaly, the first few statements of your last post did......its completely up to you what you think of me, and my lack of spelling ability, but in my age range we hve these things called "C O M P U T E R S"...these do all the hard work for us ( F7...and yes i should use that key more often )..so i dont need to know how to spell....lmao..........anyways enough of the snide remarks....your points are valid......but im 100% sure if you went deeply enough into the numbers you would find that the percentage of subaru owners or high performance car drivers, that claim are about equal..old and younger.....,I personaly think that the car you drive SHOULD be taken in account more carefully when you purchase your insurance......how many 17year olds drive Subarus...tuned ones at that....not many.......Saxo's Yes...and you ill find more of thoses horrid little cars wrapped up on the side of the road.....but the insurances are so low for that type of car....it puzzles me to how they get there logical progression........

Without appearing to be pickie, I've just done an on-line quote, on the introduction page this last stipulation states "No performance enhancing modifications"
This seems to be in complete contridiction to what everyone else is saying. As sticking on an after market exhaust will enhance the cars performance. Can anyone shed some light on this??
Many thanks,
Ed

I have been with Greenlight for years, my renewel from them was £750.
One call to LV £567, as everyone said they didn't want to know details of mods or security.
Rang Greenlight, they said "you better go with them mate".
So I have.
Still waiting for Greenlight to send out proof of my no claims though..........b*s*ards

30 year old, modded WRX Wagon, kept on street. Not interested about mods or security.
£550 fully comp for me and the missus.
Next best was £1100.
Makes owning a Scoob a viable proposition.

I find it an total insult that you tar a young driver with the same brush as a high risk driver........
Older drivers dont make safer drivers.....its a proven fact....
It IS a total joke.....i drive well within the law, as i know the risks and the responcability that come with driving a powerfull car..god forbid the day that i or anyone else has to deal with crashing there car, or worst still...taking a life...
So to be perfectly honest i dont realy care about your premium being lower...because your motoring days are be subsidised by me and a igneramouse notion that because my hair is not gray and i dont own a smoking jacket and a beagle..that i do not take care on the road.............I BLOODIE WELL DO........
yes i have a tuned car, its well over the 300bhp mark, and its totaly pristine....i worked damn hard, and still do to maintain and pay for it, i have maximum NCB..and have never even so much as looked at an accident for a long period of time.....and no matter what the cost is i will pay the insurance...but as my last post stated....i found that Liverpool victorias policys where a joke...nothing more...nothing less.....i would have though you could have grasped the jist of the post.................but at your age the cateraxe must hamper your vision and the alzheimer's trouble you understanding of simple english......but dont fret the sinelity will kick in, in a moment or two and you will totaly forget what you are even doing here.....either that or you will just sh*t yourself......
