faster 22B or S202?

My classic RA version 4 is 1170 kg and totally standard. It was timed at 4.4 secs 0-60 without taking it to the limit. Quicker is possible if you have no concern for transmission and clutch. My car has exactly the same gearbox and brakes as the 22B but much lighter (so the STI shop in Tokyo told me when I was there 2 years ago).

Tony,
Quote from Apex:
Japan may not see the 2.5-liter motor until the new Legacy comes out. However, STi is already working on the S203 STi and I predict that will see an even hotter version of the USDM 2.5-litre motor here in Japan. If it was even running in "standard" 2.0-litre STi state of tune, that motor could be punching out 370 hp and 370ft/lb's of torque. I hope STi is planning a way to put extra rubber on that beast for it's going to be a pavement rippler right out of the box.
Sounds finger lickin good to me!
Paul.

Jabbroni,
The thread asks the question which is the faster.
The 202 may be ugly (although that's always a matter of opinion ), but where it counts, performance and dynamics, it's in an Impreza league of it's own.
The Jap 22 & U.K. 22 are to all intents and purposes identical in terms of performance. Don't kid yourself.
I do agree that if we were judging looks and road presence here, the 22 is the Monarch of the Glen. I love it

Drivel I mean the programme "Driven" featured my car compared with M3 and an Audi A4.
They launched many times to perfect their launch technique and were getting 3.6 to 3.8 sub 0-60 times.
In the process they broke the clutch!
For the programme recording they manged over 5 seconds and that was with the clutch on its last legs
Autovissie had a much better attitude they refused to attempt standing starts "What is the point? We have a mature readership and they know the standing start is a hell of a strain on a car and its something we are into"
Above 60 MPH Kevin's EVO 5 was faster (= better driver as well )
On many occasions RAs have been quicker but usually driven by slim people
