Scoobs vs Cossies.....The Decider!

Car crusher, youll notice that when anyone posts something on the RS board, their comments are usually acompanied by winks or smileys to express the tongue in cheek meaning. You, I feel, seem to always have the ****.

Stef,
While your there, can't you suggest the magazine attend a track day or even a day at the Pod. That way all of the unfortunate (not to go this time) Scooby, Evo, RS and other owners will get to take part!

dumpsonscoobs,
4WD won't affect braking performance in general, but if any car has an adjustable centre diff, and locks it for a braking teat (i.e.100-0) that will help as the rear brakes will also brake the front wheels and vice versa. This is one of the reasons rally cars use fully mapped diffs in conjuction with big rear brakes.
BUT for us it won't matter as our diffs aren't mapped.

its funny isn't it. This is bound to be the best event to see near enough EVER. I mean forget seeing the formula 1 live i want to see this. Its not going to be far away and i know the owners some of the cars and yet No-one is allowed. Thats a bit sh!tty. It should be ltd to proper rs owners and SIDC members or something.
i went to a Peugeot day down at the three sisters kart track and had a great laugh. They didn't mind the odd spectator i know where they are coming from as it could be a case of another stolen car! I mean if they dont try and keep most people out it would be hard to keep the day under control.
Steven....ill find away of being there as long as its not the day of an exam! cos mays that time of year!

I have spoken to the magazine today, and persuaded them to allow a new Cat 3 which will be ;
Standard STi vs Stage 1 Cossie.
Breathing mods are allowed on both cars, but how about we keep them standard other than that?
Then we can also see what difference, if any, handling mods make on less powerful cars?
Comments.
Stef.
PS Craig, someone already e-mailed me about using their STi, was it you?

Totally agree with TFyus - if you tell us where and when it is we could kinda sneak in and watch with on-one realising... Im sure they wouldnt really mind I would LOVE to watch this!
If I move my scoop from the roof to the bonnet can I count it as a scoob?

Stef, that is a little bit out of line, don't you think?
I appreciate that a magazine's involved 'n all that, but surely people like us (who post regularly - at least on the enemies board - but won't have our cars there) should be allowed near, cos as Steven says, this is seriously something to look forward to.
With all the build-up on the RSOCBB + here, surely there's got to be some way of letting dedicated members in (maybe by membership of SIDC, or RSOC etc.)?

Greggers.
As the magazine are funding the events and hiring the venues they make the rules.
I know it's a bit of a bummer, but it's their decision.
I will, however, continue to work on it.
As it stands though, only the passengers in the cars will be allowed to spectate, which is the same for any other magazine articles, which are nearly always done 'behind closed doors'.
I'll obviously keep you informed if this changes.

John,
Legend has it that somewhere down under there is a modded Scoob like no other... twin turbo job pushing out over 600BHP on a dyno. Not likely to be able to attend, but would be quite interesting competition.... I'll try to find out if there's any substance to this legend or if it's just a lot of cobblers.
With regard to the ultimate power achievable, you won't beat some of the heavily modded Jap cars.... a genuine 400KPH+ was achieved (yes, that really is well over 200MPH) by Jun. It's not uncommon to see over 1000BHP in cars like the Supra et al. So, if you want to see a 500BHP+ Cossie eating dust, why not invite some of these monsters? Should get "interesting" on the corners, though :-)
Cheers,
Pat.

I'd just like to say well done to stef for organising this. I'm currently organising a track night for me and my friends and realise the bother that is involved. Also because I'm just so damn rude to him on our BBS
Looks like I my be contending in the new cat 3 for the enemy.
Any of you from near Glasgow with an STi so I can have a bit of early practise demolishing you
Martin

Hey Stef.
You say the magazine controls it. Well they dont have anything to control if you dont bring your cars. You guys have the power to say spectators aslong as they are friends of the drivers. I mean what are they gonna say ...no? You have to remember that they are doing you no favours and infact you are doing them a favour giving them an article that will sell loads of magazines and keep them in employment.
AHHHH a new idea comes to mind. I know mikes car is unreliable ( read on before u flame ) and so its best that we bring a motor that is capable of towing it home if he say blows all four tyres beating their "z" speed rating.
I have a 64 seater bus. Mike can drive it ill sit in his car whilst being towed there. That should about cover the demands for spectators?
hehehe
Im gonna be there somehow!

TFyus, have to agree with you on the mag thing. I have had my race and rally cars in CCC, it is them that need us, not the other way around.
The only acceptable answer from the mag to the no spectator subject is if the proving ground being used is setting this rule.
If that isnt the case then they are just being bad sports.
good luck stef, you know we would all love to see this, Ill send my 10p for my bus seat when the tickets are ready

Rob,
I'd rather you didn't come in my boot thanks - my cars cool, but not that cool!
I don't reckon I'm gonna be allowed to come anyway. An Sti with APs is probably too much for the RS boys to handle. (ready with my fire extinguisher!)

Guys.
I am working on the mag, but at the end of the day they are funding everything (inc hotels) so they call the shots.
The 'track' section will actually also be on a disused airfield, so I guess safety is the key factor.
Trust me, I will endeavour to have this amended if possible.

Yeah, keep trying Stef....you know how much we all want to see this!
Good idea Mike, shouldn't be any probs with the track bit, surely?
And the idea of vids 'n all, top notch - I'll definitely have one of those....surround sound needed I think!
