RE protien at night - a bloke i trained with in 97/98, for about 1 year, used to set his alarm clock to go off in the middle of the night to have his protien drink! he was the best i've ever seen in the gym and competed at national level. Totally NOT FAT lol even at 17ish stone, 5'8".

Super-si : I compete in the Association of Natural Bodybuilders (ANB), therefore NO DRUGS involved, and tested as well.. I won my British Champioship title for Masters 2002( the old gits class 43+) and was third in the World Championship for 2002.. Will be competing at the end of May for the European championship (have to fun muself as I ANB paid for me to attend the World championship..).
Anyway, Si keep pushing it, don't give up and remember the hardest part is training when you feel that you don't want too..
It doesn't get any easier.. but it's fun..!! especially when the know all's tell YOU how to train.. lol
I believe in good healthy diet, and the occassional KFC/pizza's doesn't hurt the body, providing it's in moderation..
Everyone's different in their body structure, so what may work for one person, may not be beneficial to another person..
Cheers,
OJ ..

Good luck mate!!
How old are you then??
Theres only 2 people i take advice from. Ones on here he knows who his is and the owner of the gym. He achived 10th strongest in the world, sound advice and always willing to help.
The question about the protein shake is say i made one blended it etc, Took it to work 6 hours late. Will it have the same protein value as fresh
this amused me off another site

Super-si : just turned 46 years old.. but pleased with my body condition for an old git..
Keep in there, sounds like you know who are the b*llsh*tters, you will always get them... and the ones who get on with it, just let the result speaks for itself..!!
Anyway, enjoy the pain and not the strain..!!

I've not used it, but the lads in the office have switched from using Creatine powder (with all the loading blah blah) to using the serum (http://www.serumzone.co.uk/cnb/shop/...odCategoryID=1)
Doesn't cause dehydration
Doesn't get lost in the digestive system
You take it just 10 mins before a workout

My advice would be do not buy serum. Unless it has changed recently it was investigated by trading standards and found to contain virtually no creatine just a awste product. Creatine is unstable in solution. AFAIK the only creatine proven to help is creatine monohydrate powder. Not effervescent, pyruvate or serum. Do not be fooled by clever marketing.

oj - mucho respect for your achievements . Having trained with someone who also competed (NABBA), I have seen (although not experienced) just what level of dedication is required, especially pre-contest . I must admit I did have thoughts of it years ago but I doubt think I have that level of commitment ...

Super - si, you be surprised how sturdy my zimmer frame is.. !!! lol..
Lucky for me, when I started 17 years ago, I was taught and shown how to trained by an ex MR universe, in the late 60's, Roy Parrot.. great guy, and tremedous abs.. Anyway, through the discipline of ensuring that my techniques was always correct, it has helped me to avoid any major problems with my joints.. The only injury I suffered was from playing American football back in the 80's...
I enjoy the challenge and the strict diet which can be a pain, especially in the summer, with the bar-b-ques, but you learn to adjust.. I do miss a beer or two when I start my competition diet (hommer mode on) beeeeeeer..!!!!!!!!!!!!! (hommer mode off)
once I have finished my shows, I have a few to enjoy which is nice...
Well that's enough form me..
Keep pushing and enjoy. All the best with your strength training.. !!!
cc- thanks for the positive comment.. you should give it a try.. you never know..!!

10am My choice generally 2sausage sandwidth hash browns * 2 fried bread, choccy bar + banana - best meal
12 Pizza, Lasagne, sandwidth, tuna pasta etc
2pm protein
5pm Generally normal tea meal.
9pm Scrambled egg or cheese or toast + protein shake + creatine
its just an **** because **** choices tbh. Looking into a 5 fruit smoothie to get just it out of the way.

lol Badger... I should use that for tanning, instead of spending time having the sunbed treatment...
My diet varies due to my shift pattern.. basically I eat rice, chicken, tuna, bannas, egg, porridge (no milk or sugar) just with water, jacket pots, vegs, rice cakes, protein drinks, dried fruit, lots of water, and black coffee.. and occassionally I will add a little chilli sauce to the rice, yum yum.!!! plus creatine and amino acids...
Cheers,
OJ
