Steve - that has well and truly been forwarded - a more palatable proposition - and that's just me

I have mostly been scrubbing a Range Rover this weekend... Similar budgets to the guys here - a bit over 10k - and it is a THE proper daddy car! Big dog goes in boot (with pram at side etc) & baby on back seat surounded by many tons of protective metal. It's got cruise control so you stick to 70 on the motorway & a HUGE 4.6 V8 with mpg like the Scoob if you just go a bit slower

Some pratt in a van swerved out on the motorway on Sat & I felt a bit safer knowing that an actual nudge/accident would hurt him more than me - me being 3 times his weight/mass/inertia/service bills...

This car SOOOOOOOOooo complements the mad 'nail it' Scoob...

going to pick up the new car, its an all rounder sensible drive to the station leave it out on the street, take the baby out in, take her out in, take all three of us out, puchchair in the boot, baby on back seat,oh & forgot a demon trackday tool too! its 8 months old, cheap to run, cheap to insure , sensible hatchback car tonight, it is only a three door though, she has a 5 dr already & the car in question is....

I don't know how your wife feels about it, but unless there are obvious problems we have decided to resist the pressure for induction that will happen at about +11 days. There is no medical need for it as long as both mother & baby are well.

I agree totally in theory, but there seems to be a grey area about it, with talk of "reduction of fluid \ waters in womb" that could potentially harm the baby. To check the fluid levels (where's the dipstick on this block? ) daily would be more hassle than just taking her in and her staying in, and induced till she gives birth.

She is booked in to be induced on Monday (12days over) so we will probably go ahead with that.

They cheaper relatively speaking the more you have, especially if you have the same sex (ie 2 boys, 3 girls). Thankfully we had a 2 girls otherwise I wouldnt have a scooby - although we are gonna have another and I would like a boy, the upside of having a 3rd girl will be I can keep the scoob and the zx7!!!!

I have two girls, and going off the last scan it looks like another....

I wanted a son to carry the family name, I'm the only son of an only son etc, but after this thats it - the family name can die, I don't want a netball team!

Steve I was told last night that the placenta starts 'decomposing' after about 2 weeks over term. Particularly of significance since the baby's demands on it have never been higher. I'm sure you have taken advice on this though, but remember the little bugger aint getting any smaller either

Was laughing-crying till tears last night at the NCT class - we had to write reasons the mother may get weepy after the birth. One guy suggested 'wrong baby'? A fear of having been given the wrong baby at the hospital...!!!! Shouldnt laugh

We had our little Mya nearly 3 weeks ago after a nightmare 73 hour labour!! but the past three weeks have flown by , I'm still amazed by her and she's my 2nd!! you cant beat that unconditional love you have for your kids.

The scoob is going by the end of October, after 5 years of fun its a wrench but it makes financial sense as the missus wont be going back to work so we are £22,000 down straight away.

I just dont know what to get next, I dont want any other car to be honest, now thinking Diesel estate, cheaper to run, practical, I have to face up to the fact that 247 bhp wont be under my right foot for much longer and handling will be come boat like......

Anyone got any affordable suggestions A4 2.5 tdi would be nice but a touch pricey and the servicing will be higher than the scoob i reckon, maybe a passat, with 115 bhp , what a nightmare, but hey she's worth it

i'm almost there, 28wks & counting, nov 14th is the due date same bd as my mum, weve got a 32 wk scan though as they were concerned with the baby's growth etc, so fingers crossed cant wait

We had a little girl - Shayna Jane, 9 days ago. Labour was induced, painful, but thankfully short. She weighed in at 7lbs 9oz (lighter than our last two).

Funkii - I'm sticking with my practical motor - 222bhp, 42mpg, and petrol, as ideal now as it's ever been, if you can live with the badge

What happened to the Skoda it was doing 34 mpg in an earlier thread now its doing 44 mpg!!, its one I hadnt thought of but doing a 70 mile round trip to work and back (M1 and M25) its got to be a diesel, I cant be doing with £50-60 a week in fuel, still if I get the skoda and drive carefully........ no chance it'll be down to scooby consumption levels in no time especially as I'd have to have the upgrade to 222bhp

On the baby front we couldnt of had it easier so far she only cries when hungry and sleeps for 6 hours a night, she did 8 and 9 hours a few days back but spent all day munching on the dairy, my poor missus, so we have tried to keep her down to 5 or 6 hours, i'm waiting for the bubble to burst, fingers crossed it doesnt.

Just off to look at the autotrader site for skodas now, stuff the badge theyre built by VAG, good enough for me. what is the insurance group, couldnt believe an Audi A4 Avant 1.9 Tdi is group 15 FFS!! hardly a high profile nickable motor, not exactly the car of choice for the scumbag joyriders....

Will admit it has to be driven gently to get the max I have, which is 42.8mpg from Birmingham to Manchester.

39.9 was best with aircon on and a little more enthusiasm, mid 30's is easily achievable. On track I've seen 12, very hard runs on road 18 is the lowest I have seen - and mine is the 4x4.

Of course the TDI110 and PD130 are quite tunable, and you will get more metal for your money than any other VAG brand, but obviously FWD. All wonderful Qcars unless you go for a bright yellow RS

Well my missus only does 16 hours a week so has dropped £900 a month on her salary x that by 25 years (as the oldest is 8 and the youngest is £270,000 - thats before you even start paying for them.

I give her £350 a month for whatever stuff they need (clothes, shoes, going out )x 25 years = £105,000

Then if you calculate that a household of 5 people costs £2,000 a month to keep going excluding clothes / going out etc (3 kids = £1200) = another £105,000 over 25 years

Add on sundries such as schooling (dinners, school trips, after school clubs) I'd say thats another £100 a month or £30,000

Just a quick estimate I'd say its gonna cost me approx £510,000

so far ive spent thousands & the child isnt even born!
that it calculating, pram, cot, furniture,clothes etc etc + my missus has given up work so i pay all the mortgage,bills & her car insurance etc! i'm sure it will be worth every penny too!
