Talking

211 mph in a RUF 911 (the narrow body) as a passenger
172 mph as a driver

I seem to remember that up to 150 was OK, didn't seem massively fast, but once you got to 170 it seemed awfully quick, over 200 on a public road was just bl00dy frightening!

Nope, I don't know you but my point was that you seem to have elected yourself as the sole voice of reason for the board which is a bit much (and yes I did work out that you don't approve of people being hypocritical about others speeding on public roads). FWIW I regularly exceed speed limits, but not by huge amounts, on the public road and never through built up areas/schools etc, but am quite happy to thrash the nuts off my car on a track and post about that. I however would not boast, or even talk, on here about excessive public road speeding or try to defend the indefensible. Cheers

I was actually suprised that the sandal wearing do-gooders haven't nailed this thread yet!

I've never been called the 'voice of reason' before

I'm glad you've got my point

Indicated 160mph and 7,000 rpm (and just off the 7,250 limiter) whilst racing another very tuned Golf VR6 (both of us had 225-230bhp) and a BMW M5. Did it for about 8-9 miles at which point the oil temperature climbed to about 128 degrees - even with my racing oil cooler .......... Never again - too risky.

Logic - an "indicated" in front of that R1 speed might be in order? It looks toppy - but still impressive of course, if you're easily impressed, which I am! Not a stocker then i assume?
