Scoobs, Cruises and the MaxPower scene.

Its inevitable that cars become older and cheaper and allow your average Joe to go out and buy one.
I think on Scoobynet, everyone gets slightly peeved cos they are losing there exclusivity - i.e. you no longer have to be a well educated IT manager on £60k a year to buy and run (hmm) a Scoob.
5 years ago, they were toys for the rich boys, now they are just fast cars which you can buy for less than £5k, regardless of insurance.
Youngsters now dont seem to mind paying £2.5/£3k insurance

Alot of good point posted on this thread about the cars. Every car which meets with approval eventually falls down the scale due depreciation and availability. The XR3i, RS Turbo,Sierra Cossie did, the escort cossie is coming down to that point of no return.
Thing to remember is that every type car will have something done to it that someone doesnt like, be it mods, availability to masses, way its driven.....the scoob is no different unfortunately. I'm sure evo owners think the same sort of this is happening with them, all be it to a lesser extent at the moment.

Zip I was deliberately trying to wind people up and as it was working on the other thread.
So you live near Keyworth? I'm often around there. In fact I shall be there Friday evening before picking up my mate from Clifton who understands the pishtaking. Hell, he joins in with it . Chill out mate it's not personal. But if you want any fake 'designer' goods I can pick some up for you while I'm in the heart of the Clifton estate. I won't actually be stopping still as they'll probably have my wheels off should I actually go under 30 mph
Or it wasn't until you mentioned the BMW I'm only pissed off with the boyracers who think it's amusing to drive dangerously and as I said in earlier posts. I don't care where you live if you still drive dangerously, which I haven't actually accused anyone of doing outside of the 'boyracer' generalisation. You can live anywhere and drive dangerously. The boyracers seem to have the older cars and these are the ones that I've actually witnessed that weren't road worthy.
I guess your MY98 is probably in good shape as you do care about it being in a safe running order to avoid your family being injured in it, whereas certain boyracers only seem to want a car that goes fast and aren't so interested in making sure other people are safe or that the car is as road worthy as it could be.
Can these 17 and 18 year olds that spend £5-6k on the car, then another grand and a bit upwards on big alloys and stereo installs plus insurance have much cash to spare for servicing (as Subaru's aren't exactly known to be cheap to service) and other routine maintenece like new tyres?

i think the other reason younger people dont mind paying 1k-2k on insurance and buying scoobys <amongst other fast cars> is because house prices have rised so much and instead of buying a house and setting up home they say home with the old,s and have a nice car instead,
ive been lucky i bought my house 4yrs ago for under £30k and houses around here are now selling for 60k+ ok i dont have a turbo but i do have a nice my00 sport. so not bad for a 24yr old,,

hmmm
well
im told the scene down south is a little diffrent then the one up here
but i do goto cruises and stuff, but its to see nice cars NOT people handbraking around like 17 year old kids
i used to like then stuff when i was 17 (funny enough) and look how i turned out
i would consider my self an enthusiast
i like going to shows
i like building cars for a living (i worked for nissan making the primera/almera and old and current micra)
i now work for a suplying company for nissan and i make the micras seats!
i keep my cars minted up
i like to "tweak" them tastefully
i dont actualy see that many imprezas in our local scene and those that i do (with exception to this dodgy one with freaking **** knight rider lights in the center bonnet vent) they all look like classy enhanced cars, not max power style muck ups
there all owned by older people round this way, maybe this is becuase the north isnt supposd to be as "rich"?
ive seen cheap wrx`s been offerd for sale but people seam to stay away from them for sum reason, the "image" of the cars up here is pretty good imo but it will probably go the same way as the south
spesh if more people start fitting them ****ty knight rider lights lmfao
i have 4 mates with imprezas, and there all tastefull cars imo
