The Lambdalink is wired from the ECU and uses the standard lambda sensor in you existing D/P. Doesn't matter if you have a OEM or decat D/P they all have a standard lambda sensor.

Hope this helps ?

Oh and another thing is be very very careful picking up the power feed from around the ECU area, especially if you going to ground the meter around the ECU area. When I fitted my AFM a while back I found an earth that had a nominal voltage on it and hence caused the AFM to mis-read!! Didn't notice this until I had re-fitted the carpets and trim. Luckily enough I had a Dawes AFM before, and knew straight away that something was wrong. I confirmed this with delta dash

If you read up about the earthing mod, Bob Rawle has fed the ground plate of his ECU and surrounding area with a negative supply from the battery. This make a lot of sense and I'll be doing this myself very soon Reasoning behind it is some of the sensors are earthed on the engine / chassis and we all know Subaru earthing is ****e

Phill

PS I have a Dawes AFM and have been using this for a year or so now.

Question

babber

Cheers for the info. Unfortunately it raises a few questions...

So where is the best place to pick up an earth from, without running a negative supply from the battery?

When you mention 'ground plate of the ECU', what exactly is this? Is it the big metal plate in the passenger footwell that protects the ECU, or something else?

When fitting the KnockLink, I took feeds from the cigarette lighter for both live and earth - is this OK? Someone else also mentioned using an in-line fuse for the KnockLink - is this necessary? If so, what rating?

Some many questions...

Guys,
I am a bit confused how this one works.
My understanding is that the standard O-sensor is narrow band, ie effectively descreet, ie would tell you only lean / not lean, so not really good for "proper" monitoring. So, how they read the A/F figure?
I thought that you can only ret a real A/F figure from wideband lambda - the one David is (was) running a groupbuy for (http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=199090).
The next question would than be - does this part works with wideband lambda?

Cheers

Knocklink should be fused with a 5 amp (i think) and the feed behind the stereo is fine as your simply providing power to the unit.

With the Lambdalink your reading a sensor on the exhaust so it critical that the voltage is read correctly. If you have a potential difference between one earth point and another, then the meter will mis-read. Best way around this really is to earth the mounting bracket and ECU directly to the negative terminal of the battery with a good thick cable (4 AWG) There was an arguement on here a while back regarding the best place to earth a AFM. I would say the earth feed from the lambda sensor along with the feed from the lambda sensor. I would also earth the ECU and mounting plate, just to make sure.

I really not that clever at explaining things, but I'm sure someone else will explain what I'm trying to say, so much better.

Thanks Phill

UHF

After taking some advice, I've decided not to get a Lambda link. This is not due to any perceived inadequacy of this product, just that I don't need one. Could you remove me from the list please.

Cheers

Cool

Received. That was fast work.

Can now get it fitted tonight whilst the dash is still in pieces from doing the KnockLink.

Are we going to be getting some instructions from BRD as we did for the KnockLink? Branko mentioned something about doing this, in an email to me.

Cheers

Si

Some details about fitting, courtesy of BRD, they asked me to post this:

Seems to be pretty self explanitory, this is for the 99-00 car only, the pickups from the ecu wiring on other cars will most likely be different.

Any help for MY01?

I can probably find the power myself with a volt meter (assuming there is a switched 12v live somewhere by the ECU) but I'd be stumped how to find the lambda input (unless there is a precise idle voltage I should test for, which doesn't share input voltage with something else)

How have you guys connected the wires into the loom, did you use scotchlocks or cut the wires and then solder back together?
