Was ScoobyNet Part of your decision to by a Subaru?

We discovered Scoobynet after buying the Terzo and internet research. Its proved to be a great source of information, support and new friendships!
Selling of the current Scooby would only mean replacing it with another, would be difficult to find an alternative to match it now!
Ace site!!

Discovered Scoobs on track experiences (big up Howard @ Rallydrive) about 7 years ago but got involved in buying houses (naf). Finances have now started settling so will be taking the plunge soon (subject to "she that will be obeyed"' wanting baby, yuk). I printed SIDC's True Grip magazine for a few years and that kept interest bubbling. I was finally referred here recently as in depth infoseeking began by T5NYW on 5th Gears forum. Love the friendly communal spirit, love the car (obviously) but don't much care for Subaru's attitude to you guys. They don't deserve you.

We discovered Scoobynet a few weeks after buying a MY99 Turbo Wagon. We would have bought the same model if we had known about Scoobynet earlier.
We now have two Scoobs and would be reluctant to change to another car make because of all the information, fun, meets and great people we have met as a result of Scoobynet. No other car makes seem to have a BBS as good. My only complaint is the cost of all the mods I learn about on Scoobynet and just have to have done.

Simon said "If you already had your scooby, would scoobynet feature in your decision process as to whether to change for your next car?"
YES, I'm looking at the Evo8 (sorry chappers), and being disconnected by vehicle from Scoobynet has made me think twice, and so has that gorgeous sound our Scoobs make
The Scoobynet community, track days, Ring trips (all organised on here) has been a major, major plus in my 2.5yrs of Scooby ownership.
Long live Scoobynet

No I didn't know about scoobynet before buying my first (and current scooby (MY98 Turbo Wagon).
Found out about SIDC before hand and did use this and IWOC as a resource to investigate the models and make an informed decision with regard to what year to buy, and whether for example the MY99 was worth the extra money.
In the end I decided MY99 was what I wanted, but mainly for the looks rather than the technical improvements (to be totally honest) and dropped on an MY98 fitted with MY00 front bumper, so got cheaper price and the looks that I wanted, so happy on both counts. (Shame I didn't find the info on the piston slap before I bought though...)
Didn't find out about scoobynet until sometime after when it was mentioned on SIDC so went for a browse to find it, and now it tends to be my preferred browse. I do still visit SIDC but not very often.

I had already decided to buy a scoob but your forums were a great help with my purchase.
Your a friendly lot here and nice to see that you dont diss us girls like some of the other car owners out there. Well, not openly anyway
You have a great community here Simon - thank you!

Thinking about it, I reckon SN did influence me. I have recently purchased my first scoob (MY03 WRX), but I have been lurking for, ooh, a couple of years at least I reckon.
I found the site because I was interested in Subarus mainly through their rally pedigree at first, and then the wealth of information on here made me want one even more. Plus, I had a great time and enjoyed a lot of the non scooby-specific banter.
Unfortunately I was too young to get insured, but anyhow had not long got a new car.
So, a couple of years later when insurance was bearable and the situation better, and I fancied a change, SN was my first port of call, with me spending hours looking up all the information I could find.
At the time the MY02 was current but here I found out loads of details about the MY03, and lots of info about my local dealers and such like. Not to mention how to maintain and run the car!!
I think SN definitely had some influence - I didnt buy a WRX because of SN, but through SN I found out so much about the car that quite often the more I read the more I wanted one!!!
But, echoing what others has said, it is not just the 'car stuff' - its the whole community thing, its great. I havent ventured to a meet yet, but should I, I have every confidence that I would be welcomed with open arms.
And again, echoing others, SN is gonna end up costing me a small (or not so small ) fortune in mods that I wouldnt have gone for or known about in the first place had I not seen this site. Ive got SECS, some ICE, PPP and some other things all on my 'to do' list from this site, for example!!
In short I think SN backed up my initial desire for the car. I'm sure it will play a part in my next purchase, whether it is another scooby or not, as the vast majority here are open to the fact that there are other great cars out there and there is advise for just about everything here if you ask.
Sorry for the essay....think I need to get some shut eye now....
