We sell all the brands. Miele are by far away the best. Every Miele comes with a ten year guarantee on the drum and bearings from Miele and most at the moment are coming with a 5 or 10 year guarantee on the rest of the machine from Miele too. Shop about but they'll last you 15-20 years and be the best £500ish quid you'll ever spend. Feel free to email me any questions Mr T

Miele - as good as they say, My grans one is about 20years old!

We have Miele washing machine too, but the one of the ballraces in the pump has gone, so it sometimes make a funny noise - out of warantee too

So they are'nt as indestructable as everyone says. I keep meaning to whip it out and get a new bearing for it (cheaper than a newpump )

But they are good...no cheap plastic in them things. Not cheap either. But I think there is a large profit magin in these things, so perhaps you could try haggling a bit

I know we got ours at trade price with was some 200 odd quid below retail

I just buy whatever is the cheapest and offer the features I need. When it breaks down I buy another. So far none of it has broken down.

do you want it to last forever is the question. I'd rather get the cheapest rather than be looking at some well engineered anachronism 20 yrs hence.

Why would you want to go to the trouble of replacing an ordinary washing machine every few years, when you can buy a Miele that will probably last 15?

Well i have a Bosch washing machine which i have had 2 years and is OK. My Parents have a Bosch washing maching as well that is 2.5 years old and it has been leaking constantly for the last 12 months despite my Father changing pumps etc. not very impressed. My Parents also have a Miele Fridge in which the shelves fall down as it has bowed out in the middle of the cabinet took ages of arguing to get some compensation for this when it was 10 months old from Miele even though their own service engineer had said it was only fit for scrap. won't be buying Miele again with the attitude they had very disappointed by them considering the extra they cost.

I have a Bosch dishwasher about 2 years old very pleased with that. My parents have a Fisher Pakell (spelling?) dish washer which doesn't actualy clean the dishes! this replaced a Hotpoint dishwasher which went on for ages.

Well, you could buy the cheapest and it CAN last the same......we bought the CHEAPEST washing machine we could at the time, which was a Philips series 50 (i think).

Now we spent NOTHING on this machine...and it lasted 15 years!! The only thing that went wrong was towards the end of its life, where it leaked very slightly, and the pulley on the drum came loose after the retaining plate bent (overloaded - fixed by bending it back ). The only serious repair was the chassis, where the slight leak (over 5 years)had completely rusted away the whole corner, and I happened to notice it was leaning against the wall - soon fixed with some sheet steel and some self-drilling-bolts Lasted another year before the old lady decided she wanted a new one cos "it's too old." which admittedly it did look like a badly built steam boiler with all the steel plating and rivvy-bolts

Replacement was the Meile, after 3 years the Pump is making a right racket To joe public that'll cost about £150 to fix
Now me being a resourceful cheapskate will press in a new set of (roller)bearings as I knwo where to get them so it'll be £10

But a 3 year old washing machine shouldn't require repairs - especially when it retails at £700 odd
Just shows "The Best" is not always the most reliable!!

We bought a cheap one first - lasted 4 years... But was cheap. I think it was a rebadged indesit. The thing was very light, and the concrete blocks came off the drum...

Replaced it with a Zanussi after taking advice. It's about three times the weight and is a quality bit of kit. We were going to go for Miele but were told that it wasn't worth it any more - they were just as likely to fail as Zanussi and AEG?

Again, that's what what we were advised by more than one place.

I had a zanussi cost £260 lasted 3 years then the drum belt housing at the back broke, and a few other bits was gonna cost £140 to be repaired so ditched it.

bought a bosch cost £350 lasted 2 years and still going strong.

My sister had a AEG cost £600 lasted 3.5 years now the programmer and pump is broken gonna cost £300 to repair.

My mum has had a miele dishwasher for about 18 months, it has had 3 callouts and has also been taken away for repair, they move house next month and will be leaving it behind as its built into the kitchen.

So I dont agree that spending a huge amount of money is going to get you a reliable machine that will last a lifetime.

Go for a baisc model with the bare minimum of programs you need, buy it from somewhere that will give you a longer warranty or buy it on a barclaycard that gives you 1 year extra, when it breaks after 3 years buy another one.

Bought a Bosch Excell (logixx too expensive/clever for their own good)

Big drum, easy operation, tells you how long it has to go, etc, etc, 1400 rpm spin speed.

Zanussi Engineer who came to fix our leaking hob confirmed it was a good choice.

He's just bought one - says its the best machine for circa £500 he's seen (and that includes the Zanussis he services)

DON'T BUY AN ARISTON

Ours is sooooo loud and takes so long to complete a wash. The main 40degrees program takes three hours admitadly the spin dry is fantastic the clothes come out almost dry to the touch, but it goes on for ever.

It does have a 30min quick wash, but this does not wash the clothes properly Things still smell when they come out.

Did I mention it is loud?

As is our indisit dishwasher, that was not a good buy It is a shame you can not hear them in action in the shop.
