B20, sorry to hear about the bad experience with your tooth,I have had a similar experience, so I well understand what you are suffering.

I cannot believe the attitude of that traffic warden. How anyone can give you a ticket when you are in such an obviously bad way and need to get into the chemist ASAP is beyond my comprehension. We are lucky that our local warden is an absolutely reasonable man. I once parked accidentally in a loading zone like you and he carefully explained the law to me and told me of a spot where I could park legally instead. No ticket. He is so well respected for his helpful attitude that people dont often park illegally in our town.

I still think that if you wrote a polite letter to the authorities explaining the situation and that because of the pain you did not notice it was an unloading zone, and that you are sorry that you unwittingly parked where you shouldnt have just for a short time while the warden told you about the zone. Tell them that you also explained your own situation to her but she insisted in writing a ticket even though you left the zone immediately. You may well find that they will let you off. Its worth the cost of the stamp!

As far as the speeding is concerned on a dual carriageway, I think you may just get 3 points with not too bad a fine. I bet your speedo overreads anyway. I should attend the court and apologise-very important.

Go to the local paper. You can also see if they will publish the warden's number which would be on the ticket (doubt it).

I think, and if anyone on here is a traffic warden and brave enough to admit it they might back me up, that once they've started writing a ticket they're not allowed to throw it away or destroy it. So I don't think the warden could 'let you off' when you returned.

A word of warning, start abusing traffic wardens and you'll have the police around before you know it

I am disgusted at the attitude your parking authorities displayed Bravo, yes it is true about once a ticket is started then the warden has to complete it, but does not excuse the way you were treated.

I suppose you could appeal officially, or go and see the head of the department personally. That often does some good if you don't start by going in on the attack. And then Brendan's idea of using the press for publicity might do some good. You have a good reason for not noticing the loading zone because of the pain you were suffering.

I'd also add that while I totally sympathise, and it's a shame that it wasn't retracted on appeal - it could be argued that if you were in that much pain, bleeding so much then you shouldn't have been driving anyway....

If it still goes against me then the local traffic wardens are in for a world of verbal abuse every time I see one, the police can't nick me if I don't do anything illegal!

Please don't think I don't understand where you're coming from, but what you've described is illegal.

Not having a go, just don't want you getting in trouble

Wink

All you have to do to abuse them and get away with it is call them a w@nker. Unless they can prove that they have never touched themselves once in their lives (and lets face it we were all 14 years old at one point) then you are merely stating a fact about that person.

What happens when cars parked illegally cuases dealy to an emergency vehicle? Traffic wardens have a job to do. SOme will really enjoy it and some won't.

If you park illegally they you'll get caught.

They are tasked with trying to keep the roads clear. How is it their fault if people park illegally?

M5

about 20 % of a traffic wardens tickets will be for cars that are badly parked............ the rest are parked legaly?? just maybe 2 mins late getting back etc.

Picture the scene!!!!

Today a s always Im working, just off kensington High street. I pop down to get a coffee. Its a very quiet day and a few people are walking along KHS... Couple of cars parked.. Along come 9 Traffic wardens. All must have been in the country less than 1/2 hour!!! Giving tickets to all the cars.... Its bank holiday monday.

Now the funny thing is.... everyone is watching them and "talking "to them......... From the simple dig to full "Go Fu** yourself" comments.. Everyone was in on it!!!!

They gave a ticket to someone loading outside "Argos" single lady on her own picking up TV.

This is the state of this country............. They are treating everyone like a cash machine.

Rip loads of old age pensioners off for millions in a time share scam and you get to keep the money!!!!!

park up for a few mins on a bank holiday and they take £50.00 off you.

And yes I want to know????? why do these companies only seem to employ black africans who have just arrived in this country????

fact. try finding a white one !!!!! I got to know one in Soho wher eI work a lot.... he was treated like **** by the Company. The Blacks would not talk or work with him.

They dont understand English which causes problems when you are tyrying to explain anything to them.

Try saying "hello". they dont even answer... just carry on without looking at you.

How much common sence would you have gettin paid £10K pa??

Pay them. However, also include a polite letter explaining why you were parked there. Include the name and address of the densist and chemists.

A few years back I got a ticket for overstaying my meter. I was visiting my Dad in hospital. I saw the warden place the ticket on the car but instead of ranting at him (he's only doing his job) I explained the situation asking him to make a note of it.

I paid immediately also writing a polite letter explaining why I had overstayed the meter. My cheque was returned to me uncashed.

I also know someone who was claimed whilst taking his daughter to A&E. Again he paid and wrote a polite letter. His fine was refunded.

When you ranted at the TW this would of being noted down and will do you no favours.

Good advice Smiler. It's all too easy to look down on traffic wardens, shop assistants and so on, but showing some common courtesy shouldn't be beyond anyone.

Btw Smiler, i *dare* you to go on a post *****!! 21 posts in four years??!!

Unhappy

Hope you get well soon - Tooth ache and ear ache two of thw worst pains i know of - So far!

Northampton has more than its fair share of them, some now even have mopeds to get around on so they can maximise their earning potential, seen them park on double yellow lines so how does that work then?!?

When Northamptons' town parking went from being mostly free to being pay and display we got another 12 wardens to cope - What we really needed was more Police officers but they do not generate money for the Council (unless operating speed traps) who could not balance a budget if their lives depended on it. This being mostly down to bad management rather than lack of funds!

BTW - If the traffic warden/council revinue generator has not actually put the ticket on your car just get in and drive away - i have now done this five times with no ticket or comeback - i am sure someone will say different but in my experience this is the case - No ticket on the car no fine!

Oh and a few years back got a ticket right outside work, unloading from my car, later that day i found the warden sheltering out of the torrential rain in out doorway nicely out of the rian, i asked them to move out of the doorway as it was private property and shut the outside door saying to them 'one good turn deserves another' - Felt damn good!
