B20, sorry to hear about the bad experience with your tooth,I have had a similar experience, so I well understand what you are suffering.
I cannot believe the attitude of that traffic warden. How anyone can give you a ticket when you are in such an obviously bad way and need to get into the chemist ASAP is beyond my comprehension. We are lucky that our local warden is an absolutely reasonable man. I once parked accidentally in a loading zone like you and he carefully explained the law to me and told me of a spot where I could park legally instead. No ticket. He is so well respected for his helpful attitude that people dont often park illegally in our town.
I still think that if you wrote a polite letter to the authorities explaining the situation and that because of the pain you did not notice it was an unloading zone, and that you are sorry that you unwittingly parked where you shouldnt have just for a short time while the warden told you about the zone. Tell them that you also explained your own situation to her but she insisted in writing a ticket even though you left the zone immediately. You may well find that they will let you off. Its worth the cost of the stamp!![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
As far as the speeding is concerned on a dual carriageway, I think you may just get 3 points with not too bad a fine. I bet your speedo overreads anyway. I should attend the court and apologise-very important.

I appealed with an aplogetic letter explaining there were good medical grounds as to why I parked there and gave all the details.
Guess what? I receive a letter this morning saying appeal is turned down as my grounds for appeal arnt valid to them blah blah blah and that under no circumstances except loading should I have parked there.
Thats it now, I am gonna verbally abuse every single one of the ***** in the town when I see them and tell them from me they can tell their parking manager he is a ******* **** from the bloke with the Subaru! I am so steaming mad its unbelievable. The first one I see is gonna get such a mouthful cos they are all as bad as each other where I live.
Apologies for the foul language but I can not believe how unreasonable some people can be so they can have some of their own treatment back, I can be VERY unreasonable if thats how they like to play
Now I got that off my chest I can relax
Off to look for a traffic warden now

I think, and if anyone on here is a traffic warden and brave enough to admit it they might back me up, that once they've started writing a ticket they're not allowed to throw it away or destroy it. So I don't think the warden could 'let you off' when you returned.
A word of warning, start abusing traffic wardens and you'll have the police around before you know it

I am disgusted at the attitude your parking authorities displayed Bravo, yes it is true about once a ticket is started then the warden has to complete it, but does not excuse the way you were treated.
I suppose you could appeal officially, or go and see the head of the department personally. That often does some good if you don't start by going in on the attack. And then Brendan's idea of using the press for publicity might do some good. You have a good reason for not noticing the loading zone because of the pain you were suffering.

I'd also add that while I totally sympathise, and it's a shame that it wasn't retracted on appeal - it could be argued that if you were in that much pain, bleeding so much then you shouldn't have been driving anyway....

Cheers for the advice chaps ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Havent abbused any traffic wardens yet. However just read the actual report the bitch wrote up and said I swore at her and that I was finding out about surgery???? She is so full of **** its unbelievable.
Anyway without going into the whole of her report which is total **** as she accused me of swearing at her (I did no such thing as I could hardly talk let alone swear) I am going to try and phone the parking manager and talk to him and tell him what a load off toss his traffic warden is talking and that I'd like to make a complaint about her report as its bullsh!t.
Then I may consider the local paper just to see what they say.
Also no I can't appeal further apparently as his decision is final.
If it still goes against me then the local traffic wardens are in for a world of verbal abuse every time I see one, the police can't nick me if I don't do anything illegal!
I think I will also right to the local MP just to get it off my chest
Anything to get the traffic wardens the bad exposure they deserve in my town.

Please don't think I don't understand where you're coming from, but what you've described is illegal.
Not having a go, just don't want you getting in trouble

How can me calling them a total w@nker get me nicked? Called freedom of speech isnt it? And as far I know I have never been nicked for calling anyone a w@nker in public. Oh and if I am not in my car and walking down the street how they going to trace me just for calling a traffic warden a tw@t (exert expletive as there are many I can think of) ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Moose I know what you are saying and thanks for the advice, but they have wound me up once too often in this town. They get away with murder. I am sure they must all belong to the **** party
As long as I don't make it a case of harrassment etc then I'm not breaking any law surely? They get deserved abuse every day so they can have a bit more from me!

My tooth or lack of it is still a nightmare unfortunately, thanks for asking ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Last Monday all the pain had disappeared and I sat down to eat my beloved curry and have a few beers
Big mistake!
A grain of pilau rice shot straight up the hole in my gum and wedged itself there
Drove me nuts and I was thinking how can I dig it out but the gf wouldnt let me touch it, had knife, fork, toothbrush, hoover (yes I was really going to stick the hoover nozzle on my gum to see if it worked
), cocktail stick, everything I could think that would pull the bu66er out but she persuaded me not to do a DIY job on it! Went to the dentist next morning. He had a dig about in the hole but couldn't find anything and said leave it to go away. And to top it all he stuck the most vile smelling and tasting disinfectant and anistetic gause in the hole in my mouth. Went to work smelling like I had drunk a bottle of bleech ![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
Went back two days later as it hadn't even started to loosen up and he still couldnt find anything and basically its gone so deep that its in the cavity in the bone where the tooth was![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
All he could say was that even though its hard rice in about 2 weeks it should have disintegrated
Plus when I said I wanted him to cut my gum open and I didnt care about the pain cos the discomfort was worse he refused saying it would be severe pain and bleeding to get to it
Bloody dentist! ![Stick Out Tongue](images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Its still driving me nuts now but its not quite as bad as it was, feels like a whacking huge splinter deep in my gum![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Advice people, don't have any dinner that involves rice, especially hard rice like pilau, after having a tooth out
Believe me its good advice!![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Just waiting to see what disaster happens when I have the bridge put in in a couple of weeks

All you have to do to abuse them and get away with it is call them a w@nker. Unless they can prove that they have never touched themselves once in their lives (and lets face it we were all 14 years old at one point
) then you are merely stating a fact about that person. ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

What happens when cars parked illegally cuases dealy to an emergency vehicle? Traffic wardens have a job to do. SOme will really enjoy it and some won't.
If you park illegally they you'll get caught.
They are tasked with trying to keep the roads clear. How is it their fault if people park illegally?

about 20 % of a traffic wardens tickets will be for cars that are badly parked............ the rest are parked legaly?? just maybe 2 mins late getting back etc.
Picture the scene!!!!
Today a s always Im working, just off kensington High street. I pop down to get a coffee. Its a very quiet day and a few people are walking along KHS... Couple of cars parked.. Along come 9 Traffic wardens. All must have been in the country less than 1/2 hour!!! Giving tickets to all the cars.... Its bank holiday monday.
Now the funny thing is.... everyone is watching them and "talking "to them......... From the simple dig to full "Go Fu** yourself" comments.. Everyone was in on it!!!!
They gave a ticket to someone loading outside "Argos" single lady on her own picking up TV.
This is the state of this country............. They are treating everyone like a cash machine.
Rip loads of old age pensioners off for millions in a time share scam and you get to keep the money!!!!!
park up for a few mins on a bank holiday and they take £50.00 off you.
And yes I want to know????? why do these companies only seem to employ black africans who have just arrived in this country????
fact. try finding a white one !!!!! I got to know one in Soho wher eI work a lot.... he was treated like **** by the Company. The Blacks would not talk or work with him.
They dont understand English which causes problems when you are tyrying to explain anything to them.
Try saying "hello". they dont even answer... just carry on without looking at you.

How much common sence would you have gettin paid £10K pa??
Pay them. However, also include a polite letter explaining why you were parked there. Include the name and address of the densist and chemists.
A few years back I got a ticket for overstaying my meter. I was visiting my Dad in hospital. I saw the warden place the ticket on the car but instead of ranting at him (he's only doing his job) I explained the situation asking him to make a note of it.
I paid immediately also writing a polite letter explaining why I had overstayed the meter. My cheque was returned to me uncashed.
I also know someone who was claimed whilst taking his daughter to A&E. Again he paid and wrote a polite letter. His fine was refunded.
When you ranted at the TW this would of being noted down and will do you no favours.

Good advice Smiler. It's all too easy to look down on traffic wardens, shop assistants and so on, but showing some common courtesy shouldn't be beyond anyone.
Btw Smiler, i *dare* you to go on a post *****!! 21 posts in four years??!!

I did write them a very polite letter with full details I have already explained. I also did not verbally abuse the traffic warden at the time.
However even though I have fully explained myself to them they said I had no business to have stopped where I stopped unless it was for unloading. They couldn't be more unreasonable than what they have in the way they replied to my letter. Its a total joke
Hence my childish attitude at wanting to verbally abuse them everytime I see them now![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
If they wont play fair then nor will I!

Hope you get well soon - Tooth ache and ear ache two of thw worst pains i know of - So far!
Northampton has more than its fair share of them, some now even have mopeds to get around on so they can maximise their earning potential, seen them park on double yellow lines so how does that work then?!?
When Northamptons' town parking went from being mostly free to being pay and display we got another 12 wardens to cope - What we really needed was more Police officers but they do not generate money for the Council (unless operating speed traps) who could not balance a budget if their lives depended on it. This being mostly down to bad management rather than lack of funds!
BTW - If the traffic warden/council revinue generator has not actually put the ticket on your car just get in and drive away - i have now done this five times with no ticket or comeback - i am sure someone will say different but in my experience this is the case - No ticket on the car no fine!
Oh and a few years back got a ticket right outside work, unloading from my car, later that day i found the warden sheltering out of the torrential rain in out doorway nicely out of the rian, i asked them to move out of the doorway as it was private property and shut the outside door saying to them 'one good turn deserves another' - Felt damn good!
