sorry to hear it, you are luckier than you think though, its a good job they were bt poles and not electric poles, then you would of had up to 11kv around you aswell, and they wouldn't of snapped at 45mph either

Didn`t get any discount on the new one though!! Managed the free mudflaps, which aren`t cheap. Was lucky my dealer had one in.

Not looking forward to running it in again, but at least I`ve got another one to wash and polish on a Sunday morning.

Like everybody`s said lucky to be unharmed, it could have been worse! I`ll see everybody at the Midlands meet in June.

i've never seen an insurance company work so fast *EVER*. amazing.

as for the comment about the telegraph pole shouldn't brake at 45mph, i think with todays cars and speeds people forget just how fast 45mph is when you strike an immoveable object.

Very good point Midget, something I never used to think about, but its very true. Glad to hear no one was badly hurt though.

Glad you are both ok.

To gain a sense of speed divide your mph by 2.2 to get metres per second. Trouble is a mile is too far to imagine and an hour is too long to visualise. But you can appreciate how far a metre is and how long a second is.

45mph is about 20 metres a second, which sounds pretty fast. If you're stretching the legs of your scoob at, say 100mph, you are covering 45 metres every second!!

I managed to hit an immovable concrete post at less than 15mph on black ice years ago and wrote a car off...
