Impreza Wagon, but I don't have a tow bar. I'll see if I can get hold of one. I have a bike rack in fact, but it's in Liverpool, and that ain't too handy.... It'll need to take 3 bikes though. Is that possible?

If you've got an Impreza Wagon you should be able to get 3 bikes in the back no problem. I used to get 3 bikes and 3 people into my old Cavalier....

Oh, and in case you didn't see it in the 'Mountain Biking' thread, there's a new video (22 minutes, a whopping 65Mb!) on my website which has loads of footage from the helmet-cam taken at Glentress.

Cool

I'll get it. Probably just borrow one off someone or whatever.
I could get 3 bikes inside the car, but not 3 people as well, as I had 2 in there the other week, & both seats had to go down.
C.

Ozzy - are you ok with that weekend?

If it's the 30th/1st, then I'm fine with that weekend.

Not as yet, but I haven't tried very hard. I'll get onto them tonight. Should be no problem there, as I know at least 4 people who have one..

Guys,

What exactly are the plans? are we camping out under the stars and miles from our cars or are we keeping the car park as a base and just riding in/out of the forest?

I've plenty of practice sleeping out in the open, but it might not appeal to those in touch with their feminine side

Cool

I was only expecting a day trip, not a weekend away.

Unfortunately, I've now found out I can't do that weekend anyway. Pfff.

(Mind you, makes a change for me to be cancelling, eh SiPie? )

I'm not too sure about that. Has anyone been there before?
I will do either...under the stars, under the car, or whatever. I'm not sure they'd let us camp in the forest, although it's worth a try, as long as we don't light fires etc, as that would be easiest.
probably best look at the nearest campsite or field...

The other alternative would be a day, I suppose, but then we'd have to drive there & back in the same day... It's not really that far, I suppose.

What do people think? Day or w/e?

Lol at Marko
We'll arrange something one day that we'll manage to both keep to

Click on the link guys and see what you all think...presume this place ain't too far from Queen Elizabeth Forest-Do a search on Perthshire and select Trossachs Holiday Park

I'm cycling in Queen Elizabeth Forest on the Saturday afternoon (or from whenever I get there) and planning to camp at the above...

If anyone's up for that then the more the merrier

Remember midge repellant as they'll be coming to a campsite near you...................real soon

Well, I'm only travelling from Motherwell, so whether it's a day or Sat/Sun is fine with me. I've got a hill race on Wednesday, so I'll be keeping my legs fresh on the Sunday at least.

Cool

On a more serious note..... why don't we all book a spot at this place (I'm camping) and arrange to meet in the campsite at 11:00am

This will give us a chance to pitch the tents etc and then drive/cycle (don't know about distance from Q/E forest etc but can't be that far) and have a good afternoon's cycling etc

Those not wanting to stay over can meet at campsite anyway at 11ish ?

Does this sound feasable and can I suggest that you confirm on here when you have booked your camp spot or at least post up a definite to save people travellling alot of miles for nuffink????

Seem ok all????????

Looking forward to meeting ye all

PS Feel free to use my profile re any finer details (not that I know any anyway )

So far we have: (all unconfirmed)

Will keep an eye on this one guys.

Happy to camp l8r on but that site is a bit boring.

Took a run up over the Dukes Pass last night and there are some nice looking tracks going off the road. Didn't have time to explore further but I know a couple of bikers that stay in Aberfoyle.

Will ask them if they want to join up and show us(or you guys) around.

Dougster

Had no idea about the site mate. Just picked it from the photo on the web

Happy to camp anywhere and agreed it would be better somewhere where we can have a big **** off fire

Any ideas....suggestions

PS Marko only pulling out cause he can't stay in a 5 star hotel

Ah, but that's a hill running race I'm talking about; I'm no mountain biker.

MarkO,

hope that was an 'uphill' race and not just a downhill one. those don't count

Damned soft downhillers having to get a lift to the top of the hills all because you've got your 34lb bikes etc you think that's justification for being lazy sods

LOL, no I'm not scared. It's just that you don't need to be fit to freewheel down a hill @ 50mph
