The race was very much an uphill one.
DH's all very well, but as has already been said, any ponce can ride flat out down a mountain, clad in body-armour, on a 35lb full-suspension bike. The hard bit is having the strength/skill to climb the mountain too.
Check the results on the SXC Website. I entered the XC-2 Glentress race and came 29th out of 39, which I was pretty chuffed with - bearing in mind that a) it was my first race and b) before January this year I'd not been on a bike for over 4 years. Mind you, there were some downhills during the race though - stuff like in the video I posted.
Oh, and SiPie - the lack of 5-star hotel would be a problem if I'd been intending to stay over, but I would have only been coming up for the day anyway.

Ah. Did wonder....
Mind you, that's what I thought, but it's a good laugh. Hard work, but good fun. The depressing part is when you're halfway round your 2nd lap, and some 'Elite' bloke piles past you twice as fast as you can physically manage, and he's already on his 3rd lap (depsite starting at the same time!).

Hey Ciaran - do you still want a lift down to Q E Forest?
I'll be in Oban until Friday, but I'll then go down from Aberdeen, via Dundee. Tell me your phone number, and I'll give you a ring, if u still want lift...
I now have a bike rack, but it's for 2 only. I reckon the other one will fit inside though.
Chris.

28th could be good for me.
If anyone fancies heading down to the Borders, I'll be:
a) At Glentress at 9am this Sunday (1st June) and
b) At Innerleithen next weekend, to do some riding and watch a bit of the DH comptetion there.

Hi there. Been away for the last week.
A total of 2?
Better forget that one then.....
Is anyone still going? I might show up if someone else is...Or I could do Glentress, but it's a bit far for me to go down there.
Try again another time!
