Hi Steve

Sorry missed your post earlier on, I really dont know is the honest answer

This Centre Pod is design for the newer Classic's, to replace the binnacle lid, I cant see a new age one listed on J-Spec site

As Pete is moving house this weekend, and we agreed that tomorrow is the cut off point for orders, Pete was happy if people at least emailed him with requirements before close of play tomorrow

I would suggest phoning Pete first thing in the morning if possible, as he will be able to give an answer straight away

Cheers

Steve

Got my gauges in the car now. Just waiting for a fine day to fit the senders.

Must put up some pics of my wooden pod - it seemed to intrigue Pete...

It certainly doesn't match the dash - well, until I track down some of that sticky vinyl dash covering stuff for sensible money...

Do you have to cut the holes in the pod?

Nope Holes are already there

Any Pics DNB, I was going to be fitting mine tomorrow, but I might need some advice lol

Especially for the Oil Pressure sender, the thing is nearly as big as the gauge any ideas where it goes?

The boost & AFR will be a doddle, just need to get some earthing straps straight from the battery to the ECU

No pics from me yet, however, as pointed out www.chiark.com is very good. I'll get some done over the weekend.

For the boost gauge, I re-threaded one of the Autometer adaptors to something more sensible. I'll see how it goes for the other gauges... (I don't like spending money on adaptors )

As for the pressure sender, I don't really want to have it plumbed in with a bit of hose. I wondered if it could be put somewhere other than under the Altenator - eg cyl 3? I also wondered if the 2 senders could be T pieced together so they can be co-located. (I started a thread about it, so we'll see what happens.)

Thanks

Ive seen Chiarks site, and I bought an adapter from my local dealers, as per part code, and it still has the wrong inner thread for the oil temp sender

But no matter, as Im not having the oil temp gauge now, as its a Phantom, so will need to sell it as all my gauges are now Ultra Lite

My local dealer did say (Danny from Mainland) said that he has his under the alternator on a dual plug thing

OK a few questions (ive read chiarks guide)..

1. Whereabouts have people tapped into the ignition wiring? (for the lighting)
2. How have people fixed the centre pod down? (those that have one)
3. Are people drilling through the original mount to put the wires, if so where?
4. How do you removed the whole pod unit? (ive taken the lid off and undone the screws at the front, but dont want to force it for fear of breaking)

Did a dry-fit of my a-pillar pod and boost gauge this morning. Just need to order my SPA oil temp/pressure gauge to finish everything off.

The alarm sensor was screwed into my existing a-pillar trim, so I just unsrewed the sensor, mounted the new pod and screwed the sensor through the new pod into the existing hole in the trim. That way, if I remove the pod, I can just mount the sensor back to the trim and you wouldn't know it'd been there. Holds everything in-place, so I don't see any need to use any more screws, double-sided sticky tape or the velco stripped supplied with the pod.

Looks if you ask me

Hi Omen,

I didn't go for the Autometer Oil Pressre/Temp gauges, but opted for a single SPA gauge. Like you I found some conflicting info.

What threads are on your Autometer senders?

My SPA gauge comes with the following:-

Oil Temp Sender 1/8 NPT thread
Oil Pressure Sender 1/8 BSP thread

Now, I've found out that the Temp Sender goes into a bung above #3 cyclinder. This has an M18x1.5 thread, so you need an M18x1.5 to 1/8 NPT adapter (or whatever your Autometer temp sensor thread is). My SPA temp sender thread is also tappered and needs to be sealed with PTFE tape as well as having a tappered adaptor.

I've been told the Oil Pressure just fits into the existing bung (under the alternator) without any adaptors, so that must make that a 1/8 BSP thread.

You can get an adaptor from Le Mans for about £4.

Apparently Oil Pressure I think on idle should be 25 PSI, and on driving about 75PSI for the Autometer Gauges

I found that last night on Scoobymods

Someone please correct me if im wrong tho

Trick,

You are obviously not hitting the fun pedal enough to warm the Scoob up!

Where did you end up buying your extra fittings from? Ive still not got round to sorting them out. Not had time.

Question

Sonic (or anyone that has fitted oil pressure gauge)

Just reading posts on Scoobymods and read this:

Connect the stock pressure sensor wire to the stock pressure sensor. You might need to bend the male end on the sensor to put the wire back on. There is not that much slack on the wire.

so,

What did you do with the original sender wire? The above text says connect the wire to the stock sender. Now correct me if im wrong but aint we just removed the stock sensor! hmmm Anyone!? What do you do with the existing sensor wire/sensor.

Cheers.

BTW: Cheers for your info Ozzy! I read it but didnt manage to post a reply!

Hmm, still not done mine yet, just waiting for the hose & adaptors to turn up from Think Automotive

I thought the idea was to have them both connected, but unsure how to do that bit yet, till I come to do mine, I do remember Danny from Mainland saying that he has a double adaptor type thing, so he can still have his Oil Light too

Will you get the check engine light if the oil pressure is unconnected? Sort of a failsafe?

Not sure if the CEL will come on when you remove the stock Oil Pressure never actually crossed my mind

Some people have fitted a T-piece so you can run the stock one and the gauge. I think Le Mans do these.

I'm waiting on my Temp adaptor arriving from Le Man, but I'll phone tomorrow and check if they do the T-piece adaptors too.

Is the thread for the stock Oil Pressure 1/8 BSP (this is the SPA digital gauge sender thread which I'm told is a direct replacement) or is it a similar metric size?
