Who's gonna own up to this

What a stroke of luck, I just happened to be wandering around the web when I came accross this web site. And as luck would have it after reading every single thread I came across this one which has a registration number of a fairly desirable car. I think they are a bit gay TBH. Golf's are 1337.
Anyway must dash cars to rob and all that.

I suppose it's not scraped enough for armco, maybe he didn't do it at the 'ring then. I can't think of anywhere there with tyre walls.

Irrespective; its not your car
You should ask permission or be decent and blank it out. Its called respect, something we are lacking in today’s ME ME ME life.
Post the pics, blank the plates..its not difficult

How is a car thief gonna find the address to where a number plate is registered..
Surely its only the police and DVLA etc that have access to this info??
I can understand why people blank their plates, but if you were gonna clone a plate on a similar stolen vehicle then the easiest place to look would be to do a national seach on the autotraders website, they never cover up the registrations hey???
P1 looks well fcuked, learn to drive mate...

Is a car Index Public or Private Property?
The plastic is yours; the index belongs to the DVLA
If the Plate is in public no problem, if it is not it could be thought as intrusive but that would go for the Image of the car not just the index.
It would seem a bit far fetched to think a production saloon parked in a field, open to the public would be a problem to anyone.
Unless you are using your vehicle for crime perhaps

My comments on this:
If it is your car, fine, post a pic up, with your plate visible, no problems.
However, if it is NOT your car and you have not asked the permission of the owner of the car then a) don't post the picture (some people are a tad funny about having pics of thier damaged cars being posted up) b) at least blank out the number plate. As said before, people don't like their plate being put on a public bbs, tis why there is a rule in the 'was it you' forum that states do NOT post plate numbers.

RB170,
In general, it's accepted policy to remove the plates out of courtesy to the owner. This is something I've always adhered to when posting any pix on SN.
Rather than argue the point, could you please edit it by 9.30. If the plate's still visible after that time I'll delete the pic.

OK you are a moderator and enforce the rules for Scoobynet.
Please make it clear regarding this rule of not posting indexes on this BBS, also enforce this if this is a rule to everyone not just sections of the site
Its a bit like having a speed camera and not knowing the speed limit
And we all know what we think of those

I'm sorry Ajax, but I have to disagree with your viewpoint on this.
Since I first registered here, in November 1998, it has ALWAYS been the practice to remove reg numbers. This is not a random or unilateral decision.
In all the hundreds of pix I've posted from trackdays etc, the only plates I've ever left were either wind-ups or my own (everyone knew P1 YOB was me, so why hide it).
If an owner chooses to post a shot of their own car's plate, then it's up to them, but I think you'll find that it frighteningly easy to find out the owner's details. You just need to know the right (or wrong) people.
Since without the pic this thread no longer has any merit, I'm locking it. If RB wants to edit the pic, and let me know, I'll happily reinsate it.
