my choice was get a wagon and be skint, or get a saloon + a right ****ter estate and be superskint, and probably need a new bird.
now i get to drive my scooby all day long, and when kids come, i don't have to get rid of it. LOVE IT
i wish the wagon had the flared wheel arches of the saloon though

Right. i can now comment. had a saloon last year and have just bought a wagon (both classics) was paranoid that the handling would be crap on the wagon, but i gotta say the wagon would leave my saloon on the roundabouts/corners for dead! THE END !

At least the 5 door has a little class.
Both are good cars IMHO, just the wagon doesn't scream middle aged bloke trying to recapture his long gone youth.

I had a turbo ppp back in 00/01 and it was great.
Haven't owned a scooby since then , but have just taken delivery of my new MY05 wagon ( pre-reg from dealer with 6 miles on it and fat discount.)
What swung it for me vs saloon/STI;
- rarer than the saloon and still a head turner
- with PPP, will be the ultimate Qcar ( it's not bad now )
- black interior is far cooler
- no phalic wing or pink sti badges
- a bit more practical
- my National Trust sticker looks better on it
Generally it feels more like what UK scoobs used to be like.... e.g. low key
Oh and I'm also 5 years older.

Ive got a 96 wrx wagon GF8 and i love it, It's eaten an EVO 5 a few weeks ago and ive lost count of the wrx saloons ive lost in my wagon! My mates wernt sure of it at first but once you start modding them sensibly you'll be suprised how many people prefer the wagon to the saloon. The early wagons may have only 220bhp compared to 250bhp for the saloon, But you can tune them the same as you tune a saloon to run the same bhp mod for mod!

Love my wagon. Wagon + PPP = stealth.
Really comes into its own on Rally GB -- quite easy to sleep in the back on the stages: try that in a saloon!
To those who ask why they aren't rallied: they are; have seen one on Epynt a few times.

Wagons Rule!!
I would like to think that in the next few months (when it finally gets sorted) my wagon will be up there (or nearly) with the fastest wagons in the country.
Certainly the yellow ones anyhow!!
