CHRISP , this is the first time ive used scoob net so dont know exactly how the mods like to keep things goin but the rsocbb is the most relaxed ive been on n alot of ppl like it that way , fair enough it sometimes gets a bit ott (at times ive been involved) but no 1 really holds grudges n a good **** takin most of the time ends up with ppl chattin to new ppl (alot of ppl i talk to the most i first spoke to when we were callin each other).
if the rsbb was hitlerized i think quite a few users would find new bb's to waste their lives on
Thats fine and as Webmaster has pointed out it will have a different set of guidelines. I actually use to post on the RSBB and still have a ID I think. Actually I was about the 10th member to sign up I think as it was relaunched over a christmas period.

Hi Chris

Absolutely. The RSOC BB will be completely seperate to scoobynet, we'll just be hosting and managing it.

Cheers

Droptop mate, If the scoob boys do what they say they will then it should all be OK shouldnt it, Shaun has spent plenty of time racked up on the RSOC so he for one knows how things work on there (when its up!) - including random "What kind of Ketchup do you like on your chips" type 4am posts LOL!. On the good side it will be up all the time a pleasure to use and as it would be run by people whos primary interest is the BB (as opposed to the current webteam who have many other responsibilties too) then we should have lots of improvments and other interesting stuff to look forward to .

Our innitial thoughts were as follows..

Firstly, there are not enough moderators (in our humble opinion) but we'll put that to a vote.

Then.. we would probably suggest a vote on the RSOC BBfor some of the mods and ask one or two of the mods from ScoobyNet to act as conosultants for a period, just to give experience on the kind of things that work / don't work.

The reason for this is that you get a team of people you know and respect doing the moderation, but they don't need to be experience moderators in order to take on the role innitially. This also helps us to be sure we're not going to accidentally change something that you wouldn't want.

All just innitial thoughts, and obviously we won't put too much thought in to all of this unless you all really want this to happen.

All the best

Simon

yeah you have my vote 100%, something needs to be done about the RS Board, otherwise people will not pay to advertise on there if it is always down. Cheers for offering and lets hope it will be sorted soon.

Cheers

Must agree scoobynet is the fastest, biggest and most used and reliable motoring BBS on the net (that I know of and been on a few). All of the mods are pretty sensible except one and we deported her Australia LOL .

May even start up my old account as I have a Ford as well .

PS Simon / Shaun, please dont be downhearted if this thread doesnt get many hits straight away, Im sure a great number of RSBB users simply have stopped looking for the moment as its been down for the last week or so and hopelessly unreliable for the past month or more. If you feel it warrants it then maybe making it sticky would be a good idea as Im sure as soon as the RSBB is back up then you should get plenty more people wanting to make their views known one way or the other.

Thanks again and good night!

Hi,

Not all the RSOC BBS members come on here so there might not be a big influx of votes. There are about 7k members on there and there would be more but since it started a slow steady decline from the beginning of 2002 most of them have abandoned ship.

Not only that the moderators on there are not even active, never even on the site! The only moderation is done be 2 web team members and 2 or 3 other mods!!!

You have my vote!

What an offer........

Gets my vote........

.........But I would be very surprised if it gets Gizmo's It's his and others (Kelvin??) original baby and they want to keep it that way from what I can tell.

The RS could and should put this to a proper offical members vote.

Thing is you could offer the world and it wouldn't be accepted!!

The "comittee" is so arrogant, stubborn and up themselves to accept such an offer!

What an offer! you get my vote as somethimg needs to be done as the BB's performance is truly pants and to be truthful over the past week i've been thinking of giving up on it

When the BB's up and running again put your offer on there see how many ppl reply then but as said b4 can't see Giz 'n Kel being to happy as it's there baby so to speak personally I think they've tried there best now it's for somone else to have a go good luck

Dan p.s gr8 site btw

OK..

I think this is in the hands of the club now.

The offer is there guys. It's clear from the response so far, that a good percentage would like it.

We stand to gain very little if anything by taking it on, other than the feel good factor of helping a fellow enthusiast group out. So we really will not be put out if you come up with a better solution. But we're here to help if you want it.

Whoever needs to move it forward can, and we'll be right behind you.

All the best

Simon

There was an offer from Clint to host the site which was refused. Turbosport is not a slow site either!! Dunno why they refused to be honest esspecially when the offer of matching the cheap price from the US host was made.

I have to agree with that. Its a great offer and gets my vote!

The RSOC BB has been a shocker since I joined 3 years ago. Look at the amount of people put off just by the fact its so unmoderated! Pretty much anything without a Turbo & Escort Badge or Cosworth Badge is very much looked down upon (and slated) by a select bunch of a$$holes. It is never moderated and never working - when it is it is the slowest website I have ever been on.

If (as I think) it does get rejected why not start up something like www.RSOC-UK.co.uk or something? You will find forums full of people with RS's all over the net with a hate for the RSOC BB and some of the idiots on it! Fiesta Turbo.com / RS2000.com etc etc.... Forums that are full of people put off the RSOC

May i mention a gripe here about scoobnet?

Why does it insist on returning you to page one after replying to a multipage thread?
