Carlos the Jackal said-- "The RSOC BB has been a shocker since I joined 3 years ago. Look at the amount of people put off just by the fact its so unmoderated! Pretty much anything without a Turbo & Escort Badge or Cosworth Badge is very much looked down upon (and slated) by a select bunch of a$$holes"

Sorry mate, but that really is utter shat.

Most the reason i like the RSOC BB is you can talk about other cars without people slagging them. Only the RSBB and the GTRBB are like that, on here and MLR i dont post much as the merest hint of "cosworth" get misinformed to55ers goin on about rustly slow smokey sheds....
The only cars that get grief are scoobies, and not even that for a long time, and deffo not as bad as they always got on here.

And its "quite" un-moderated, but in a good way, the BB is FULL of banter, we ALL take the **** out of each other, and thats why we all stayed even when it slow as ****.

Generally i feel SN is quite boring, the muppet room never took off on the RSOC BB as generally people dont post much crap, and if they do and it not funny nobody replies so it quickly dissapears, if its getting replies then its popular so should stay on the main board. Somtimes jus techy stuff bores you, but the "muppet" stuff isnt good enough to go look at a room JUST for it.

Some of the threads on the main board end up lasting weeks and are so funny most people reading them are in tears of laughter, the board wont be the same without banter n funny stuff.

It helps people know each other n what they like, whereas on this board you know nothing, you read the muppet board n youl jus think everyones generally unfunny tossers with nowt better to do, techy board youl jus find out who knows a lot, and on the main board you will find out about peoples cars, if they arrogant or preachy tossers, but not much else as anything else gets moderated.

Maybe the SN and RS boards cater for different types of people, but thats jus the way. In the bad old days a year or so ago when the RSBB was HEAVILY moderated it was rubbish, anything and everything will be deleted, and RSBB people wont and didnt stand for it and deliberatley acted up against it. Soon as the mods calmed down a bit it was much better.

On RSBB we put jokes, funny links, talk not jus bout car mods but racing, going out, drinking, sex, birds, just life really, and some huugely funny arguments, pisstakes n banter. And it wont be the same without some light reading like that mixed with the car stuff.

Its not just the younger or childish people either, some of our most "respected" members are ALWAYS joining in with the aformentioned threads- Stu@MD, Tony@Turbosystems, Mikey R, even your very own Fagin is usually in with the **** taking.

People know you cant be seriously offencive and launch unprovoked attacks (that arnt banter), know not to be racist, or highly sexualy explicit, and they know threads will be removed and maybe person banned for that.

Apart from that its best if anything goes.

I HOPE THE OUR BB GETS AS QUICK AS SCOOBYNET!

I bet Giz wont have any of it tho...

And im STILL after an explanation of how the hell they can justify the RSOC accounts...

Cool

I'm reading this thread and getting excited! Have a Mk2 RS2000 for 15 years and now got an RB5 (for a year) Used both BBS over the this time, and love Scoobynet for the knowledge base that you can access almost instantly. People take time out of there busy lifes to help you and your friends. The community here is great, I'm not knocking RSOC This goes far beyond just fast good looking cars, it's about anything you want to talk about.

I'll still use scoobynet long after I sold my last Subaru (and I can't see that happening)

Trouble is, if you guys can't talk due to BBS being unavailable, etc then it all goes to pot

I'm unclear of the motives of Scoobynet management (PLC) lol, but in all fairness our BBS is available almost all the time. I haven't got stats to prove this, but spend most of my life connected to here, sad I know

Joking aside, I know Scoobynet management are nuts about cars, like us and have provided us with a fantastic service for the last 3 years IMHO. (I wish I had a cap off gif) Got a nice pink STI damper gif, but it got moderated

Moderation on here is justified and very fair, threads are locked / deleted for good reasons. Threads being moved, etc are generally for the right reasons. We all post in the wrong sections by accident ?

Pictures of your car and all the other internet eye candy (****) use bandwidth and that costs money. I really don't see the point in it? I've checked out the TT BBS recently and have lol, at some of the eye candy they use!! Lol at a few things going on there too

I think I vote YES!!

Phill

PS Not a RSOC member, but a SIDC member

PPS I hope I don't get flamed

And as ifv to prove Babbas comments valid about a comunity being useless if a BB is unreliable....

The only reason Marco just said long time no speak to me is cos the RSBB is fookin useless.... i have 5000 posts on there and Marco obviously cant even find one to say HI recently, hence long time no speak!!!!

I'm not a member of the RSOC, but as a user of the rsoc bb for the last 3 years I have imput. It's been going downhill for over 2 years closer to three. I no longer use it because it's not usable. So yes, I think if the powers that be - ie Giz wants to keep his membership he needs to consider alternative means of hosting the RS bb before his membership walks. Hacking may or may not have been a problem - but at the end of the day c'mon - for this long? Give over.

I think it's incredibly grown up and wise that scoobynet offered to host - respect to you guys for not letting the usual childish cosworth v subaru disputes get in the way of progress. Big up scoobynet - I'll look forward to seeing what happens on this issue

luv bumps x

Gets my vote...

As for the Site being hacked, thats not what the webteam or the club are saying. BTW.

There appears to be lots of reasons why the site is so slow, really doesn't matter, the fact is its slow.

A few years ago wasn't in run by someone else, who left as a moderator so to say its kel and giz's baby is not strictly true is it.....

Thumbs up

Hmm, a new BBS that looks like scoobynet but with new people and new topics. I think I could persuade my brain to look at that and besides, I think I've seen just about everything on SN (but can't quite put it down)so a new forum would be great.

Let's drag it back up. Would be nice for someone who runs the RSOC BB to put their thoughts on this post... but like that will happen.

As great as that sounds, you haven't got a f@rt's chance in hell of them agreeing to it.

The fact that the RS BB is down at present, due to one of the webteam (the one who looks like the comic store owner in the Simpsons) having a tantrum cos someone dared to question his authority, illustrates the appalling state it is in.

And this same bloke is the chairman of the club...

As renton would say "it's a sh¦te state of affairs Tommy" (no, I dunno who Tommy is in this instance either )...

The club has been going downhill a wee bit recently, but the web-based activites are shocking, and someone who thinks he is about three miles above everyone else (does he EVER reply to anyone's emails?) is at the helm of the club. It is absolutely rank.

simon/shaun the fibber

if giz dont take you up such a generous offer he wants his head looking at!! yeah its in the hands of the club now and yeah its obvious a huge percentage of the regulars are happy for this to happen but as we've seen numerous times in the past the members views count for jack, its down to gizmo, its his club and board!!

yeah you obviously got my vote

matt (regular user of rsoc bbs and club member for last 3 years - rsoc mem no 32619)

I'm not a member either, the state of the forum just keeps putting me off. I did try to download an application form, but hey guess what? Website issues prevented me from doing so. So you get my vote if a non-members vote counts.

I agree with others on here, the RSOC guys won't let SN host it, they do not seem to like or even reply to comments made about the state of the site. In fact they don't seem to respond to anything negative about the club at all. I read a thread on another forum somewhere the other day (may have been TurboSport) where a guy said he phoned the RSOC HQ to find out how his membership money is spent within the club, he was told to f**k off or summin like that. Now that is no way to treat a paying member! I hope SN can host the RS BB but I cant see it, and if not maybe we should all vote for a name change. I'm sure 75% or more of the members will move over.

LOL Steve3DR go onto both RS2000.com and FT.com and ask them why they dont use the RSOC BB! It may open your somewhat blinkered eyes!

It would be nice to see what does come of this, the RSOC needs a BBS to use, it is full of useful information as said and is an asset to its internet users

It was me, but I have no idea why I was spoken to like that, could've just asked on a really bad day...

It was the middle of last year this happened and things should have changed for the better now

I do really hope that Chris (Gizmo) can change the RSOC for the better...

Greg, it's James Raby

Can't remember which number was ages ago when I rang, was also told it wasn't my business, but I don't know who I spoke to and what department

That's why I am saying that I hope Chris turns the RSOC arround to a club that can communicate better with it's members

It always seemed to me that RSOC HQ had access to the internet and never bothered looking on it's own BBS!
Well if they did, nothing was ever answered

Jon Sayers has been waiting over 18 months for something he ordered from merchandising, queried with HQ, still nothing appeard...

edited cos I can't spell - d'oh!

Cool!

Power to the people is what I say!

It's nice to see that there are outside powers that are prepared to take up the hopeless RS cause, and lend support where it is needed.

The two things that first got me to look at Scoobynet where the fact that Simon (Webmaster) was promoting the site through his sometimes televised actions, and that the whole overview is so much more professional. I think these must be carried over to any new RS bb.

And as for the RS leadership - if you don't answer people's questions and queries, then they aint going away. The RS board is only a small proportion of the club as a whole, but it can make its voice heard.

Cheers,

Rich.
