Being a member of the RS Owners Club for a good few years now 6, think it would be a **** up is the club moved its services to a rice rocket service, I'm sure the boys in the webteam have plans a foot to fix & address the issues that are current with content.
it would be a sad day if it went that way, everyone who thinks its a good idea clearly is in it for the own benifit & does not understand who or who runs the club & the LTD company behind it.

Coarse,
Please elaborate as to why this wouldn't be a good idea, as you have provided no explanation what-so-ever for your negative views - just some off the cuff remark about "Rice-rockets" . If you think there would be issues, then you need to highlight your concerns. I believe that any concerns people may have can be put to rest.
The RS site sucks how it is at the moment and the powers that be have not been capable of sorting it for how many years? So time to hand over to someone who has proven they can. Given that Simon has said that all he would basically do is host it, I cannot see any down-sides. Perhaps you would care to explain your concerns?
Cheers

ROFL@A scoobynet (the home of blinkers it seems, lol) person saying RSBB is blinkered (see, banter ), not anymore, maybe once.
Reason i dont go on FT.com anymore is because its about 10% fiesta TURBOS and 90% 17y/o kids with 1.1 neon mobiles,so doubt they could get much out of RSBB.
Got loads of mates with RSTs but they dont bother goin on FT cause the techy knowlege is next to none unless you want to know about subs n delta bodykits...
Its all about having the right bb for the right people, and how the rsbb was was right for most rs turbo n cossie owners.
Turbosports ok, but somthing dont seem quite the same, this place looks promising--

Mike, can you really see a Ford site being hosted by a Subaru service, that will going down well with the other membership of the club who dont really think the site is important, as you may now the club has been around a hell of a lot longer than most of its users . I think it will bring the club/company down even further.
End of the days it a BB a ting part of the Club that may not even funded by membership money but by other means.
I for one dont support this 1 bit.

I would just like to point out. That a "subaru service" would not be offering the club anything. This is a personal offer from me and shaun.
Shaun owns a seriously high powered 3 door cossie, I have rallied everything from MK1's all the way up to Escort Cosworths. I work for the world rally championship and can bring in people to talk to you like the first person to win Group N on the RAC with the brand new 3 door sierra. etc, etc, etc.
I think you would be surprised what it could do for the club's image.
Either way. It doesn't look like this is wanted by the people "in charge", and that's fine. As I said, it's genuinely no skin off our nose. If the membership are not able to vote on things like this, then I apologise for posting about it at all. I certainly didn't want to tread on anyone's toes.
We're here to help whenever you need us. In the mean time, please enjoy scoobynet, you are more than welcome.
All the best
Simon

Coarse,
Perhaps you should re-read Simons opening post. It will NOT be a Scoobynet site, it will be an RS site. Simon's only intention is to provide the hardware to support the site as it exists. So the look and feel will not change. My understanding is that the only difference you would notice is the fact that it would actually work.... It would also not be switched off every time Simon got upset...

Thanks Steve - very good of you to involve our site in this thread. Bit off the subject isn't it?
I won't get drawn into a handbag fight about ft.com, but I think there's a few of our regulars who could challenge your opinions.
As for this board hosting the RSOC, imho it could and almost certainly would work out for the better.
There's nothing stopping ScoobyNet setting up an unofficial RSOC section - vote with your feet and I'm sure the RSOC will lose out.

GREETINGS TO ALL RICE BURNAZ!!
jaysus thiers no messing with how rapid this site runs, i just joined in under 10 seconds and am here posting! that in itself says alot, i upgraded to a 1 meg line and the rs bb was still driven by a miss daisey server, as still made no difference at all, if it ran like this bb they,d have a much larger member list as people includeing maself dont bother trying anymore as its such a joke, wich i think is a shame as thier are alot of salt of the earth kinna people in rs land and the logic we all used to get is well missed, i think it doesnt matter who mod it we are all fellow turbo nutters that all like the same thing getting off clock a.s.a.p and lovely women as many as possible, praise goes to whoever sorts it out the modded car worlds getting rather interesting at last peace n unity amoung scoob n rs owners?
i,ll still chase after every scoob i see its an unwritten rule as an rs owner i,ll just smile as i draw alongside and wave like matt campbell end of the rs bb and say RISPEC!!

BTTT, keep voting!!
Course, if the rest of the RSOC members dont use the BB why should they care less about who runs in, in fact they should be happy as the club will be at least £1500 better off as Simon and Shaun will host it FOR FREE!!. Spend a bit more time on scoobnet and you will find the vast majority of people are "car enthusiasts" in general and also appreciate RSs (unless your Alex Cabrio posting your latest scoob thrashing movie LOL!!).
Simon, Just out of interest how much would you estimate the RSOC SHOULD be spending to host its BB given its level of traffic??

Scooby Regular
Coarse,
We have a proven track record in providing this service.
Our membership exceeds 26,000 members (and grows week on week). The site currently exceeds over 24 million hits a moth (and grows week on week).
For a site of this size (which is one of the biggest motoring sites in the world and one of the biggest sites overall in the uk), our approach and liason with the community (as regards to features we provide and the way moderation of the forums is undertaken) is second to none. We have/had such features like Scoobyshop, ScoobyNETPlus membership, on-line discussions with key personel within the WRC and Subaru arena, hold the record for driving sideways, organsied (and taken part in) a number of events, been involved in AUTOCAR's Sideways Challenge, organised amazing competitions and "can't put a price on" experiences.... the list goes on and on.
When we realised the traffic was getting too much, we designed and wrote our own BBS software (this also enabled us to add other key features for then and the future).
When we approached a threshold on our previous server, we commissioned the purchase of a more powerful one early this year.
All these factors and many more, highlight how serious we take the community and it's opinions.
It has been a joy to be part of something that has been so successful.
Our mission statement has always been "By the community FOR the community"
Regards,
Shaun.

Hi All
This is an interesting thread..........
The most obvious question (to me anyway) is "Why don't a small number of members get together and see about forming a new RSOC club?"
A club where the group is run in the best interests of members and not for individuals (not having a pop at anyone but it sounds like a total lack of leadership in the current club)
No doubt, it would be a big effort but the results would be very satisfying.
Genuine Effort + Enthusiasm + Honesty + Common Sense = Results (This has always worked for me!)
Go for it!

Indeed. However, to get it setup and running will only need a founding committee of about a dozen people. It's finding people who are:
keen, can work together, dedicated, see the big picture, etc..
Surely there must be a dozen people from the current membership.

OK, that does it.
How about we set you up a new forum called fastRS.com and we can all take it from there?
If RSOC comes back up and everyone's happy, we can just close it again, it won't be an issue, but if people want it and it works, we'll be happy to run it under your direction.
Let us know if you'll be interested.
Cheers

I don't think that is the way forward. This issue needs to be discussed by the existing members and they need time to forumulate a plan. Why not just create a temporary RS form under Scoobynet with a limited life of, say, 3 months.
The onus is then on RSOC members to shape their own future.

I have to agree. Owning an RS i spend a lot of time on that board and it's woefully slow. This site is so much faster it's beyond comparisson. Certainly gets my vote!
By the way all u old school RS fans like myself try logging on to www.rsmk11escortclub.co.uk. The site is run by one of the moderators on the rsoc board and it's spot on!!!

Pity...I think the moderation on snet is far superior to that of the RSOC bb. It makes for a happier user experience
I hope the RSOC does move over here, I miss everybody
End of fluffy transmission...
