Coarse,
There's nothing like good reasoned arguements to put your point across (and your comments are nothing like good reasoned arguements ). Why let the facts of the matter get in the way, when abuse will do...

How can this not be a good idea?? The only people who could be against it are the ones that dont want to be associated with "Subaru`s" I think this statement says it all:
The RS BB has been on a slippery slope for a few years, I can remember the last time it was took offline due to Gizmo not agreeing with something that had been done on the site, mods threatened to leave some did leave, most of the BB problems must stem from trouble at the top.
IMO Scoobynet has been head and shoulders above the RSBB for ages especially in terms of fresh ideas and obvious faster connections.
One case in point, RS Owners get a RS shop that only sells raffle tickets, Scooby owners get the above, need I say more?
Looks like I changed my car at the right time
Doc
I would just like to point out. That a "subaru service" would not be offering the club anything. This is a personal offer from me and shaun.

I'm not trying to attack anyone here. Can you show me any part of my post that says anything negative about the web team from RSOC. I even defended them (for good reason, it's a hell of a task, and they should be respected for the work they would have had to put in even to keep it going to the level it was).
If nobody wants this to happen, it won't happen. I'm not doing this for me.
If lots of people DO want it to happen, it WILL happen.
I am just trying to facilitate what everybody wants. Where is the harm in that, and what is causing you such a problem with it?
All the best
Simon

This definately gets my vote...
Totally pi$$ed off with the poor service that the members get on the RSOC BB, with little or no communication from the Mods.
If you are lucky enough to get a response then you are told to e-mail them, so you do, then you dont get a reply, if you get a reply it is usually along the lines of "Its not our fault, we are trying to fix it, dont have alot of time to do this though so might take a while"...
Oh yeah, I will be a mod on the new site if you like!!
Cheers,
Grant

Out grown the server that they only moved it to a couple of weeks ago - I think maybe they need a crash course in capacity planning.....
Other hosting, Hmmm how about some super fast high bandwidth FREE (yes FREE thats F.R.E.E. i.e. Gratis and for nothing, nowt, zero zilch) hosting with Scoobynet......
Nah dont be stupid, that would never work.....

Well,
Ive set up a forum over here: www.passionford.com
Its offline at the moment to imlement some changes but so far we have 85 of the old RSBB users registered there and the general concensus is: They LOVE it
Give it a try soon, should be back up with its own uploader and chatrooms etc tonight.
Best Regards,
Stu

My only real grip with the RSOC BBS was the signature pictures. OK, I KNOW it's nice, but come on, it killed bandwidth and no doubt was a primary reason for threads taking so long to load.

"Thanks for the support everyone"
Kel, not sure if you are the same "kel" the mod off the RSOC BB but for the last 2 years we HAVE given all the support that we can to the flagging BB ,but now we are sick and tired of the same excuses everytime the bb goes down ( which recently is at least twice a week ) the mods NEVER let you know what is going on ,i think it is time for you to move out the way and let people get on with running a BB that are capable of running a BB ,im not saying that you have not done an excellent job of running the bb ,because you have ,but please now see it from the MEMBERS eyes ,we want a better bb than of late.

Thanks Mr Webmaster, sorry you dont seem to have a Name
So,
Am i stepping on any toes here if my site goes to plan?
Also,
Siggies, what is the "real" truth, will they slow an access to page or only slow the siggy loading itself?
Weve all run tests at RSBB with pretty inconclusive results as there was never any average to gauge against, it was either dead, slow, ok or quick :S

The Sigs eating bandwidth is an absolute myth....
There have been two problems, the first one was with Verio (the people who host the board) network, when tracing to the board with various utilities NOT just simple tracert command, it was possible to see that the bottleneck was actually with a router or something 2 hops from the board.
Now... the board has been moved, when you do the same process of tracing the machine on which the board resides was responding quick as you like with no obvious bottlenecks.
It appears the problem has been with the config of the board or the backend database... as the RSOC BB is now announcing.
Personally, I think the offer from Scoobynet is an excellent one as they run their board as a full time job rather than a part time job to be fitted in with a demanding career, the chairmanship of the RSOC, Local Group activities and an active member of a band.
I feel sorry for poor old Kel who does a sterling job but as he's in the front line he gets the flack....
I think its time to move on to a new chapter and I hope the RSOC Webteam give the Scoobynet offer some serious consideration.
