Steven_RW here,

The rsowners site has been a farce for ages now. I understand that its obviously a time consuming task to run it. But at the end of the day the internet side of the club has been going to pot for ages due to the utter LAMENESS of the site.

I personally never did and still don't care who runs the site as long as people can get on when they want to chat to people that they want.

The rsowners site up and running properly would be cool again.

EVO VI boy now

The Sigs eating bandwidth is an absolute myth
Only if you have broadband, just had a look on turbosport and it takes ages to load a thread compared to SN due to size of peoples pictures. 56K modem you are lucky to get an average of 5K a second. So one 50K signature takes 10 seconds to load. Sure pictures get cached but then you end up filling up your hard drive with peopls signature pictures. Ten 50K sig pictures and half a meg of diskspace bites the dust . Reduce people picture to a sensible size and it woudl work much quicker for us modem users. Before anyone tells me to get broadband, I would but they wont do it here due to not enough enquiries .

If all 26,000 SN member had a 50K signature picture and each one was cached on your hard drive for fast access it would take up nearly 1.2gig

Stu, that is why its it closed & the on goings on the BB over the last week. The issue of performance is down to RAM allocation. The legal side is yet to be resolved, if its is going ahead. I'm not involved in those issues. Above me.

I'm spending my last hours in the UK sorting a few things out on the new version of the BB.

But this may be the last thing I do on the BB, because I'm undecided what I'm going to do... never know 4x4 might be up for sale and move to the other childhood dream of a 20v quattro.

Spent 4-5 years pushing the site & bb with no help from any other parts of the club apart from Giz and the mods that help out.

So even if you sort the allocation issues, it wont be back till legal reasons are resolved?

That could be YEARS!!!!!!!!!!

Kel
This is exactly most peoples points ,while we appreciate(sp) all the good and hard work you and giz have so expertly done over the last 4-5 years ,people believe it is time to let some other experts take on the task of running the bb ,you and giz obviously cannot give 100% to the bb and hard as it may sound this is what people want .

giz/kel etc . i think the bb was the best board there was

1. it was blue
2. it was a laugh
3. me n ste could hide **** in unused sections
4. i could unleash my vast tuning knowledge on ppl that needed help
5. mods hardly moaned

but it was slow . ive been on a few bb's since it dropped n all have been pretty borin\ppl cry when banter starts\site wasnt blue . if it gets goin well i think ppl would come back but not as many as before cos all the rsoc refugees have caught boats to other forums (stu's is the britain of forums for most lol)

stu, I know your not having a go.

as for the speed issues we know why ?, i'm unsure how its going to be delt with as I dont hold the £ bag.

And the people who look after it will more than likely have to be seasoned full RSOC members & not outsiders, like most other things to do with the club.

Simon -

As a scoobynetter, I'm a little annoyed at this offer. Why ? Not because I don't like Cosworths - in fact, when I was 19 I had one of the first whale tail Cosworths in the North West as a company car, and I loved it. And still do.

What worries me is this : so much gets promised on Scoobynet, and so little is delivered.

We've been waiting for months for some form of official group buy system to be implemented, and yet nothing.
We've been waiting months for some form of ScoobyPlus Member 'For Sale' system to be implemented, and yet nothing.
We've been waiting for months for the Membership packs to be sent out, and they've only just been sent out (incomplete, btw).
We've been ....

Well, I could go on. You've got plenty of promises to fulfil Simon on this forum, before foolishly offering to take over another : I understand the commercial reasons for it (can I expect an increase in charges for advertising shortly on ScoobyNet ?) and I'm sure the offer is (mostly) in good faith, but how about fulfilling your promises to the Subaru community before promoting yourself to Ford ?

Please don't take this as a personal attack : I hope you know me well enough to know it isn't.....

Right, cant b arsed to read thru cause i dont care bout RSBB any more.

BECAUSE...

www.passionford.com IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much BETTER than RSOC BB and turbosport put together, and we should all jus use that and be done with it.

Turbosport is fast, but frankly boring as hell, RSOCBB was fun, looked good, easy to navigate, could get the tech answers you wanted, but was APPALINGLY slow, and badly run, and no answers from webteam when we had queries.

www.passionford.com (apart from its slightly bent name) looks jus like the rsoc bb was, easy to navigate, good fun, has all the old people so good tech advice, and everything, should be the best car BB on the net easily (already my fave).

Offline at mo for more additions, but soon as it back (back v.soon, hopefully later) i say you all go there, i see no point with RSBB as long as people know this new one is the one to use (and nothing goes **** up about it).

Thanks for the vote of confidence Steve & Droptop, glad you liked what we had as a STARTING point

Unfortunately, any new site is going to need some adjustments, that page refresh going to main forum issue, not enough rooms for EVERYONES tastes, no chatroom, no uploader etc etc etc....

We are just aiming to make it what you want early on....no long delays like we are used to.... Ive been there with ya Steve, so at least i understand

I want her to feel like home

Petrucci is reasonably confident she will be online again tonight, but lets not rush him, hes been a star already, it was all French at 9am

Best Regards,
Stu

Spent 4-5 years pushing the site & bb with no help from any other parts of the club apart from Giz and the mods that help out.
This is the kind of thing that hasnt been said - if your "pi$$ing against the wind" as i am in my job then let the RS owners know - they pay their money and expect at least a 1/2 decent BB!! If it aint yours & Gizs fault then let the masses know! for your sake aswell as everyone elses!

Someone somewhere is responsable for the RSOC BB and its problems - I dont believe personally that its Giz and Kel (as they seem to be doing the best with what they havae) but everyone needs to get togethor and sort whoever it is out! Even if it means starting a NEW RSOC BB?!

I dont understand why the RS BB cant be sorted very easily internally, The RS Ownersclub charges thirty odd quid for membership and who knows how many members they have, surely if they sat down and worked out a proper plan utilising some of the funds they could have one of the fastest/best servers available.
The problem with the RS Owners club is they are still in the dark ages, imagine the scope for new membership over the internet yet the promotional internet tool is prehistoric.
Too many AGM`s outlining what times tea and biscuits and not enough nitty gritty organisation.
