CROSSROAD GARAGE

To add to my earlier post above, I requested a refund by e-mail on Wednesday and i've just got home from work and it has been credited back to my card on that day. Like a few other people here, I feel that its more a case that Dave might have taken on more orders than he can supply currently and wasn't expecting such a rush of enquiries, as opposed to any dubious goings on, however being upfront and telling people wouldn't have hurt his cause, in fact he's probably now rushed off his feet with refunds (

Well, all I can say is that I have personally had GOOD service from Crossroad Garage. I ordered and had fitted Goodyear F1 GDS3 at the same time as an extremely reasonably priced 60K service on PTMW! (£250 ) and the service was according to the book with OEM parts. I was kept informed at all times of the schedule as to when the car would be ready & it was ready when they said, cleaned & everything stamped up.
There was a small problem, which was dealt with efficiently and effectively and generously at the time - one of the GDS3's scheduled to go on was defective and a GDS2 was put on. £50 was reduced on the bill and Dave is sending a GDS3 as required & in addition sent the old 17" P Zeros by courier with it to save me filling up the boot space.
I too believe that Dave has been somewhat overwhelmed by the interest in his deal and is genuinely trying to juggle everything and keep everyone happy - no mean feat. As I said, he has always been honest and open in his dealings with me and more than fair.
For the cynical, he was not aware that I was a SN mod until the end of the service and all had been settled.
This is a factual reporting of my dealings with Crossroad Garage and is not an endorsement or otherwise. However, I am happy with the service received.
Thank you.

Would just like to repost what I 'reposted' last night on the tyres forum,in case anyone did not catch it:-
<<There are some obviously frustrated people in this thread - I'd like to 'repost' a post I wrote in the dealer forum a few weeks ago:
>>
I just had a service & cambelt at Crossroad garage in Rake, just North of Petersfield, (used to be Subaru dealership (I think) in Cheriton a few years ago.) They agreed to do a cambelt & service with a day's notice, even though they seemed pretty busy. The garage unit is not the most inspiring (outside anyway), but they knew what they were doing and there were five or six scoobies there when I visited. They advertise on here & give discount for Scoobynetters. They found a weeping oil seal whilst changing cambelt and rather than just leave it they ordered another from Subaru (Proven, Sparshatts & Cheam did not have one) and delayed the job by a day. This meant they sorted a courtesy car out for me on a Sunday. Prices were good too I think - cambelt & tensioner fitted for £229, Rocker cover gasket replaced for £96, 15K service for £80 (including air filter - all Subaru parts). Quoted a new clutch at £295 fitted. Cleaned the engine bay up nicely as well. Certainly better service than I've had from certain subaru dealerships. I'll be going back & would recommend.
Call David Hunt (friendly & knows his stuff) on 01730 233700 <<
IMHO they did a great job. What I didn't include in that post was that he told me they were starting at 5am because they were so busy. I was also told that they are often asked to do work by certain local Subaru dealers also.
IMHO, dealing face to face, David was a genuine guy (and I surely hope that I am not proved wrong!). It was the first time I had used them, but the service was very good, and based on my experiences, I would continue to recommend them. I suspect that he has just been swamped by demand (and TBH the premises did not not resemble a huge tyre warehouse - they were fairly small and cramped). If people are getting refunds, and sensible apologetic replies, that would not appear to be the normal response of a 'scam', or dishonest trader?
I am not sure of the circumstances in which they have been removed from Scoobyshop, but I hope it can all be resolved quickly, and you guys all get your rubber!! >>

I've checked my cam belt now. It's the right one and is going on the car tomorrow (weather permitting)
I'm now a happy customer.
The trouble with being quite good, and offering service at a good price is that it tends to attract hordes of customers quickly. I hope they get over these current problems.

I would just like to add a our factual part to this discussion.
In my few conversations with David, he seemed a genuine and decent bloke. We were quite happy to extend him a considerable ammount of credit so he could make a huge splash here on scoobynet and generate this substantial influx of business he has enjoyed.
Unfortunately, the conversations dried up after the 3rd time he promised a cheque was on it's way to us. Now my phone calls and emails are not answered and not replied to. This is the case even to the point that the debt is now in the hands of our debt collection agency.
All I wanted to do was speak to David about this, but he hasn't called me back, even when I know he was available (as a person I was speaking to at the time was on the phone to him, and asked him to call me urgently).
I have to say I'm deeply dissapointed, and am saddened to read what a huge success he has received from his scoobynet advertising, whilst not paying for it.
Use this information as you see fit. He may well be fabulous to his customers, I will not find that out. But scoobynet will not be extending it's services to him in future without upfront payment and more confidence that he is going to satisfy customers from our membership.
Best regards

In what way? A sale is never a sale until you've been paid. As I said earlier I received great service from these guys but I get the impression that they were overwhelmed by the demand but if they haven't paid their bills, then that's a great shame.

Anyone actually managed to speak to anyone at this garage in the last 2 weeks? I keep getting the O2 answerphone. Surely there moust be someone at the garage who can answer a phone...
6th june delivery comes and goes so it seems. Bunch o' timewasters.

This is not the case. Everyone has been factual and nobody has slandered / libelled anyone.
We are MORE likely to be sued by a vendor we have fallen out with than one we are on good terms with, so why would we be more likely to leave this thread open?
In addition, we have direct personal knowledge of many of the claims being made and have made every effort imaginable (including actually travelling to their premises) in order to try to discuss it with them, so we know it's not just someone trying to be immoral.
As they had generated such a staggering amount of business from scoobynet members, we felt it vital to be sure everyone is informed.
Talk about "damned if you do, damned if you don't"
cheers

I have actually got my tyres, well half of them anyway.
I went down there and got 4 last friday, and may go tomorrow to get the next 4, so long as I can get him in the morning, couldn't get him today, so didn't go!

If anyone needs tyres and lives near Leeds I know of a place where I got my tyres (from Crossroads) fitted. They were GYear F1s, funny thing was the place that fitted them said they could do them cheaper than Crossroads (paid £310 for 4) fitted. So set of GYs for less than £300 fitted - not bad and reputable.

Hi All
I have just had a horrendous experience at Trade Tyre and Service Centre in Alton run by a Dave Hunt. I was left with an unroadworthy Mini Clubman costing a further £500 to fix elsewhere as the footwell module had been damaged and the wrong coolant temperature sensor had been fitted so the engine fan was left running constantly. Before I take this further I wonder if this is the same Dave Hunt the history of this thread and tagged threads are alluding to. Your help would be much appreciated.
